Know anything about rugs??

  1. My husband bought a 9x12 rug to put down in our living room, and in the process caused a huge crease in the it won't lay flat, it puckers where the dang crease is. Anyone know, is there a way to get rid of it?? I hate the way it looks, and I think he's sick of me referring to it as the "ghetto carpet."

Figured it couldn't hurt to ask here. Ya'll seem to be a resourceful bunch.

I would try steaming the crease with a steam iron -- not actually ironing the rug, but holding the iron just above the surface of the pile so that the steam penetrates the rug. Steam usually relaxes creases/wrinkles out of most fabrics, so why not a rug? Couldn't hurt to try ...

Depending on what the carpet is made from, you can also try the spray that removes wrinkles from jeans. The crease is probably caused by a crease that is made in the backing.
