Kitty Problems(it never ends at my house)

  1. Some of you may remember a December thread where I vented about my new cat who was very needy, wouldn't leave me alone. Well I got her in December and we have worked out the watching TV thing for now. She sleeps on my chest sometimes, and other times snuggled up to my feet. (Apparently I move around too much for her to get a sound sleep... )

Well now she wants up when I am on the computer. I type onehanded as we speak. she has one arm I can use the other and she wants her face on mine so there is some negotiating so I can see the screen with one eye. I've been online for an hour now and she has been up and down 5 times so far. I got one of those baby slings to cuddle her in, but....noooo.....it's not the same to her.

Plus she follows me room to room like a toddler. When I am on the phone to my mom I tend to pace and talk. Had to hang up once because after about 45 min the cat was getting tired (she's an old woman you know). Tripping over her creates a huge YOWL! and a dirty look.

I love her dearly but it's getting so I'm so tired and irritated that I can't enjoy her or the 4 others that are getting the short end of the stick because she is so possessive. Is this life with kitty, or can I do something to make her more secure?

PS I must admit I can't sleep anymore without her purrrring me to sleep.

That is so awsume. Wish my cat was that friendly! I had to get a puppy in order to receive love back from an animal and be able to cuddle while watching T.V.

My oldest cat, Miss Bianca was alone with me for the 1st 7 months after I got her from the pound. She has always been very bonded with me. Several years later she had some medical problems, first needing her teeth removed..except the fangs & the little front teeth. Then 3 years ago she had a stroke which left her hind quarters paralyzed. I nursed her through that & now she's very possessive of me. She used to swat the other cats off my bed. (still does once in a while) She requires many mommy moments through the day. I don't mind & the other cats have managed to get their time with me too. Meow X 4 Pam

Easy to find a cuddly cat- just go to www.petfinder.com and look through the pets available in your area until you find a "people kitty" in the description. You'll also find the names of nearby shelters, and if you call or email them with the type of personality you you want they will be able to tell you which cats might suit. I've found that older cats are more sedate and willing to sit and love their person, but ask a shelter worker to be sure.

    awwwwwwwww... sweet kitty.

Chelsie is only 8 or 9 weeks old, but she follows me from room to room as well. She used to try to get up on the keyboard, but now she's content to just lay on the bed as I type (I sit on the bed as my puter is right next to the bed). She sleeps at the foot of the bed... and I just LOVE to be "purred to sleep" !

oh dear...you just had to post that petfinder url, didn't you??? Just curious so I looked for a polydactal kitten and there's a beauty in a nearby shelter. I had an orange male polydactal and just loved those big baseball mit feet to death and now I see a baby baby polydactal! arrrrgggh. Let's see...you think 6 cats would be a bit much???

    I say enjoy it.....

my kitty is like that to some extent. She is a 13 year old persian and always been really cuddly. we just LOVE her. but she is showing her crotchety side as she gets older and tends to nip the kids if they get in her face...sigh. Old age is no fun for cats, I guess.

Six cats sounds like it would be just right for your house Suzy!

All I can say is that I wish my adult cat acted that way. I got another kitten yesterday in hopes that it would have the lovey dovey personality. I have no advice...my cats are being brats right now also.

    awwwwwwwwww...she loves you, how sweet.

It almost reminds me of my daughter. When I'm trying to do something and she's in the room talking to me or jumping around and acting silly, or following me, or wanting attention and I start to get annoyed...I think of the future when she'll have her own life and I'll be the one craving HER attention. Look at the positive side and enjoy the unconditional kitty love

    The perfect cat...

Notes: You don't have to say it, I know I am not the most attractive cat in the world but I have personality that won't quit. OK that is a lie. I don't have the best personality but I really love people. OK that is a lie too. Well, I do like people but will take a bite every now and again. OK well maybe everyday. I guess you could say I am a feisty old hen that just wants a place to spend my golden years. If you are looking for a cat that just hangs out in your house and eats your food then I am the cat for you.

This cat is FIV/FeLV negative, current on vaccines, and microchipped.

This cat will be best in a home where he can live indoors.

If you are interested in this cat or any others from our shelter, you may contact us at (559)233-8554 or by email at valleyanimal@sbcglobal.net.

The California Feline Foundation is open for adoption Monday - Saturday, 10:00am - 5:00pm.
    ...and her pic....awwwwww.

Canoehead, you can just pack that pesty kitty of yours up in a carrier and ship her to me FedEx First Overnight.
4 cats at my house and not one of them is MY lap cat <sniff> I feel ignored.

And I'll go on record now as saying that 6 cats is not too many, then again, I had 10 at one point not too long ago and didn't think that was too many either.

    I just can't do it...

She's given up on the cuddling now and is lying at my feet waiting patiently.
