Kitty cat dials 911, saves owner

Police aren't sure how else to explain it. But when an officer walked into an apartment Thursday night to answer a 911 call, an orange-and- tan striped cat was lying by a telephone on the living room floor. The cat's owner, Gary Rosheisen, was on the ground near his bed having fallen out of his wheelchair.

Yes, I saw that on TV last night (or this morning...???). Anyway, when I 1st heard it I said 'it must be an orange cat'.....I always have fancied orange cats---have always had one as well. And sure enough...it was an orange kitty. Now to teach ours to do that......don't hold out much hope. He's too silly and goofy but that's why I love him.

I have two orange tabbys too, even if they knew how to call 9/11 I wonder if they would call? My 10 year old male still hasn't gotten over getting fixed. lol

I was wondering if it was not one of those instant alert things some people wear ("help I've fallen and I can't get up"). I find it really impossible to believe a CAT dialed 911.

My parents' cats have called 911 twice (it was on speed dial, they hit the speed dial button by accident.):imbar

Rosheisen said he couldn't get up because of pain from osteoporosis and ministrokes that disrupt his balance. He also wasn't wearing his medical-alert necklace and couldn't reach a cord above his pillow that alerts paramedics that he needs help.
Rosheisen got the cat three years ago to help lower his blood pressure. He tried to train him to call 911, unsure if the training ever stuck. The phone in the living room is always on the floor, and there are 12 small buttons _ including a speed dial for 911 right above the button for the speaker phone.
I am rootin' for the cat.

OK so it was speedial. That makes it a lot more believable.

OH MY GOODNESS JoAnn ---indeed----the cat did something. Thank HEAVEN.

But the way they announced it initially, they said a cat dialed 9-11. I found it very hard to believe in the initial report. That was all I was saying. I heard this story at work on NY Eve---I found it hard to swallow, the way it was reported.

In the end, it was a great thing, on that we can agree , eh? Now let's shake hands and smile....
