This is the first I've heard of this. I remember seeing her play Jo in an old version of "Little Women". I also liked "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".

She was 96. He last movie was made in 1994 I believe. Can't remember the name, but it was with Annette Benning.

Was it "The Man at the Top of the Stairs"?

I first saw her in On Golden Pond, then started to watch for her. I Loved Guess Who's Coming to Dinner-that was a real breakthrough movie for it's time, and probably would be now, somewhat. I remember reading that in her 70's she still swimed in the ocean in the middle of winter. I'm sure it took quite an illness for that strong old heart to finally stop.

She was one of my favorite actresses. My favorite movie? Well, perhaps, "Love among the Ruins" with Laurence Olivier. Paul Harvey on the "Rest of the Story". had an interesting tale about her. She once, in college, in the middle of a snowstorm, got on the roof of the dorm and stood, naked, arms extended. Hmm. She always had a little of the rebel in her. Katharine: "I'm afraid I'm a little too big for you." Tracy: "Don't worry. I'll cut you down to size."
