Just had an "Allnruses.com" member over for dinner. . . .

  1. A fellow "Allnurses.com" member was over for dinner this past evening. She's doing "Camp Nursing for Rich Kids" for a month near where Amy and I live.

I don't remember exactly how this whole process got started, but she realized that I lived close to the summer camp, posted a note to me and I responded with an invitation for a home cooked meal.

I must say that this was a first for me! Never have I invited a person that I met over the internet to come over for a visit and a dinner! One hears about all those horror stories of "psycho killers" stalking their prey via on-line bulleting boards/chat rooms. Thankfully, my wife and I are still alive. . . .

. . . .neither did we kill our guests. . . . :chuckle :roll :chuckle

We had a delightful time (my wife and I did, hopefully she did as well!). Amy made a fantastic dinner! (I can still taste it! Burp. . . .excuse me . . . )

I hope that we stay in touch and meet again sometime.

Anyone else here meet an "Allnurses.com" member for an honest-to-goodness "3-D, in the flesh" meeting (verses a "cyber-meeting")???

Interesting how the internet bought together people who might not have otherwise met one another. Way cool, in my books!

    Happy "allnurses.com" folks!

Wow Ted, sounds like a wonderful time you had, that was a great idea !!

We once had a couple from Illinois come and look at our house after e-mailing several times.. it is kind of scary, never know what to expect.

And neither of you turned out to be axe murderers huh? :chuckle

I am so envious! Glad to hear you had a good time. I haven't met any allnurses folks yet, but as I said on another thread, I have met three other people who were internet pals. In each case they were people I had been in regular contact for over a year already and others within our internet circle of friends had met them first so I had no qualms whatsoever.

    Oh, I never said that I wasn't a psycho killer. I said that we "never killed our guests" . . . this time . . . . . :chuckle :roll :chuckle

    (Just kidding . . . . .)

We had a wonderful time. Hope we can get together again sometime in the not so distant future!

    Cheers, folks!

I know the secrect guest but have zipped lips til they post.
(Feeling quite smug here...smirk...not in character, LOL).

I have met others at ANA convention few weeks ago and enjoyed several lunches. Got Jenny P to try soft shell crabs and she survived the experience. Jenny, Bassbird and Moonshadeau LOOOOOOOved our Philly cheesesteaks and are still alive to tell about the experience; at least I think. Haven't seen they post this past week----maybe I need to email re health.

Now Hollihan and I have shared only ONE breakfast at a centrally located dinner but have not been able to replicate the experience. Probably because my 'natural shelf' forms a depository for most of my meals; tried wipping the spots to little advantage; but still we've become great conversationalists.

Hope to meet many more posters over the coming months and years.

Glad to hear it was fun Ted. If you can't share who it was, that's ok but at least tell us what you wife cooked up for dinner.
