Just for fun

  1. I'm making an angel food cake. Just for fun, has anyone ever made one? This is the first time I've ever done this so for some reason it scares me! I'll let you know if it turns out.

I think I made one about 15 years ago. Good luck on yours! I hate it when I spend a lot of time making something and I wind up having to throw it in the garbage. That's happened more than a few times.

The secret to angel food is not to get any fat in the batter. Be very careful when separating the egg whites that you don't get any yolk in them. A chilled bowl and chilled beaters will also help you get maximum rise.

It was perfect. My husband and kid ate half of it as soon as it was cool. I was planning to have it for dessert tonight with strawberries, but it was so good by itself that I cancelled that plan. They'll eat the rest of it tonight, I'm sure.
