was about to post this but you beat me to it. HE was quite a talent...outstanding and outlandish, at times. He will be missed. Seems he went rather suddenly and unexpectedly.

Your recently-posted thread on President Ford reminded me to post something on James Brown.

    He was a rhythm genius.

I'm sad to see him go. Makes me feel very old.

I remember listening to his albums/cd's every Saturday when I was young. My mom always played old R & B, soul and old gospel (ex. Mahalia Jackson) mostly all day. I haven't listen to much James Brown lately but he will surely be missed. For us younger generations you can hear his music in some hip hop songs, a lot of his music is sampled in hip hop.

When he first became popular i didn't like him. I thought he didn't like white people.
My Dad remarked that I had no experience with the mistreatment a young man in South Carolina experienced and shouldn't judge him.
He was a great talent. And always had an excellent band.

This is a different perspective. Pretty rounded musically and politically.
MUCH better to see or hear than to read!

Well, then the one you really need is Live at the Apollo II

I guess that'll always be my favorite. It's a Man's World is just one of his most beautiful ballads. I Feel All Right was such an awesome jam.You can hear parts of the selections here.
