It's the weekend! It's Saturday Oct 27th

  1. Yippee. I haven't worked much this past week, being sick, but I'm still glad it's the weekend. There's just been too much drama for this Mama. My son and his girlfriend have been a huge headache. Tonight it really came to a head. I'm hoping it's over. I feel so bad for my son, I have cried for him, but I can't let this relationship ruin his life. Everytime I hear more about this girlfriend and her family it just get worse and worse. A Jerry Springer drama for sure.

Tomorrow we're going to a Halloween party given by one of my co-workers. I'm looking forward to that.

I started a thread about sharing quick & easy dinner recipes and wow they are awesome. I am looking forward to trying each one. I'm getting hungry thinking about them. Come to think of it, actually, I didn't eat dinner tonight. Speaking of eating aren't these just the cutest little trick or treaters...

We're dressing as a colonial bar maid and minute man for the Halloween party but I'm thinking it would be cute to go as dogs. Maybe I can talk dh into it...

    GOOD MORNING, LITTLE PEEPS!!

I'm atwork & it's just not good tonite.
We are short 1 CNA; one CNA for 18 pt's just does not cut it---especially with the acuitys so high!!

I knew last nite was too good to be true for more then 1 nite!!
Got an admit with blood running from the ER & you know that is never a good thing. So, been giving him multiple units all nite. One good thing is that I found he is neutropenic, so that means we can't put a pt. in that room with him & that means we have no more beds. AUUUUUUUUUUUUUgh!!

Well, this AM, as it happened, I felt so sick by the time I got off work that we did not go shopping---so, that means we have to do it this AM.
We have to get some things for the weekend, but I also have to pick up a Birthday cake for a friend.
Tonite is our Poker Nite & one of the gals is having a birthday, so I said I'd bring a cake.
I also want to pick up a few things to give everyone at the party for Trick or Treat!!
Maybe I'll pick up some makeup for myself to make some type of scarey face.

Well, Ivac's are a beeping, so I'd better go.

You all have a good day!!!
Dutch----Thanks for starting us off; So sorry about your son!!

Diary---Are you off the weekend or working??

    Ssee you all

Mary Ann - I am working tonight and tomorrow and then off Sunday.

We have 1 CNA for the floor right now - bummer. We are a 27 bed unit - I think we have 5 empties now - I have the only 2 isolated patients on the floor. I was a little upset about that. However I have been the only one not running my butt off - 4.5 more hours to go!!

Good Morning working extra this am, wishing they would call and cancel. I don't think it will happen. Oh well the extra money is always good.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Bummer JMG, being called off (when you have paid time off) is pretty sweet!

    Morning everyone!

I hope the girlfriend situation resolves itself soon Dutch.

Don't know why I'm up at 5:30am on a Saturday. Spent all of yesterday afternoon doing journals and write-ups and all the evening doing an ethics paper--it's not due for a week but I wanted to get it done before the end-of-quarter craziness starts (and for once I'm ahead of schedule).

Hope you all have a great day.

    Good Morning dear Friends.

Ex MIL passed away on Tues.. the very night I had written about her condition.

Ex dh, dd, and ds were to leave Wed. for CT. to visit with her a few days, but they left to bury her instead. So sad. But I'm glad she didn't have to linger and suffer.

As for me, I'm working this weeknd... primary call nurse. Lots of wound care out there to be done all weekend.. plus whatever calls may come in 24/7. Yick.

Mary.. hope you get to feeling better!

jm.. sux about having to work when you thought you wouldn't!

Dutch.. hope the ds and gf issues resolve themselves peacefully.

Diarygirl.. hope it's a managable weekend for you !

To all yet to come... enjoy your weekend!

Better get going and start my day.

    Diary,

We have 16 Pvt. Rooms on my floor & 1 Double room.
Sometimes we have as many as 16 Isolation pt's.!!
    Believe it or NOT!!

It's awful sometimes----every single one of your pt's may be in isolation.

    Most are MRSA & C-Difff.
    But we sometimes have others!!
    Also, b/c we're also Oncology,we also have neutropenic pt's.
At one time, we couldn't take care of both; however now, at any one time we may have a neutropenic pt. as well as contact or droplet precautions.

    Wahing Hands---so very important!!

Jnette, sorry to hear about your ex MIL.

Joe, hope you keep up with everything - I never was good about staying ahead in school!

Mary, I absolutely cannot imagine having all my patients in isolation - I would think with neutropenic patients that management would want to keep superbugs away. Oh well, what can you do? Hope you are having a good night.

Wow so early and so much to read already. The son and girlfriend drama, cripes I am so not ready for those years, but know they are coming, dd is 10 and already eyeballing the "cuties" across the street. I don't think I will make a very good MIL, way too picky.
The usual saturday here, up early trying to get ds ready for hockey which starts in an hour, still arguing about brushing teeth and which shirt to wear. The hour before his concerta kicks in is soooooo painful. It is raining and cold, and just noticed dd's rubber boots by the front door. I am pretty sure I asked her at least 10 times to make sure they were packed for the sleepover camp. So I guess I will be the good mom and go drop them off for her. Trying to infuse caffeine as quick as possible, wish I was a morning person, but just is not happening.
The good news is I go back to work a week from tomorrow, can hardly wait, who would have thought I would ever say that. Better start pressing those uniforms now, and the stethoscope is......somewhere in this mess I call home!!

    Have a great week-end

Management says that if we use proper handwashing techniques, it won't be a problem.
Who knows!! I use the same arguments against!!
