It's that time of year again!!!!

  1. Time to think about this summer's VBS that is. (Vacation Bible School). My mom and I went to a VBS workshop today where several different companies were gining presentations on their VBS kits (books/crafts/snack ideas) Don't know yet just which our Church will decide to use, just getting some ideas. Any of you involved in VBS? What kind of things are you doing? We have done "Space Travel", "Deep Sea Fishing", and "Archeology" in past years. My mom wants to come up with her own ideas about the "Children of the Bible".

Kara, last year my Mom coordinated a VBS the theme was "Insects".. ladybugs, grasshoppers, butterflies.. etc.. I think the kids made their own insects as one of the crafts, really cute.

Kara - we always use a one of the preset kits for the curriculum, but devise our own craft projects. This will be my first year NOT in charge of arts and crafts. After seven years, I was ready to pass it on. One of our best years was the "water" theme. A little bit of Noah's ark, the parting of the sea, etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will most likely be working at least part of that week so I am trying to help as much as I can with the "getting ready" work. Last year we ended up with another Baptist Church coming from a nearby town to present our VBS because all of our workers were busy cleaning up after the floods we had in July. Several people lost homes/cars/animals and were just trying to put their own lives back together.
