It's almost Spring....how is everyone planning on losing their 'winter weight'?

  1. Ugh! It's time to start thinking swimsuits again.
It seems like an annual tradition for me to head back to the gym to lose the extra pounds that were put on during the cold winter months.....that darn holiday food and Girl Scout cookies!

What are your plans? How do you 'lose the bulge' when the weather gets warmer?

Any helpful diet or excercise tips?

Anne Actually, my CD player and time on the treadmill might help get this war off my mind for a little bit.

I started the first week of Feb. I get up early and work out 6 days a week. Also watch what I eat. It's been about 7 weeks and I've lost around 12 pounds. I thought it was a bit slow for wt loss (I've never dieted before this) but the last couple of weeks people have been commenting "you look better" "Have you lost wt?" and things like that. I'll keep it up for a bit more I guess.

Treadmill and Bowflex have been dusted off...working my way back into my routine.

Of course, looking forward to mowing the yard... that ALWAYS burns off quite a few calories !

Might put in a little garden again this year... haven't had one since I started studying.. I've missed it. But now I can have one again. That will burn some as well.

We have some lovely trails along the New River for hiking and biking (ahhh.. can just see the dogwoods in bloom) and of course there's the Blue Ridge Parkway 5 minutes from my house...

    AHHHHHHHH... SPRING ! SPRING ! SPRING !

Soon as the snow is all gone I'm planning to bike the 7 KM to work. My goal is 3 days a week.

I have a ton of exercise stuff in the basement, but I hate being a slave to a routine. So I just play around with it when I feel like it.

But I love to walk. Brian goes on his roller blades, which forces me to keep a fast pace. I always feel so much better when I can walk.

Trying to get to the Y three times a week instead of two, vowed to take the dog for a daily 30 minute walk, and have cut my chocolate consumption to one little piece for a treat after meals.

Gained over ten pounds over the winter to add to my rather chubby body already!!!!! SO! I have cut WAY back on my beloved Coca Cola, drinking water, no red meat, watching fat grams, walking, weather has been so dumb only getting in a walk twice a week at this point. Have lost 4 lbs in three weeks, which is TREMENDOUS for me!!!!! Have decided I am going to keep it up this year and try to get to my goal weight by Christmas and ask for mall gift certs for presents to buy a new wardrobe!!!
May be pie in the sky, but at this point I am enthused about it. Feel much better after losing a lot of sugar, red meat, and fat from my diet, it's unreal the difference I can tell.

I resolved to stop eating when I'm satiated, regardless of how much I've eaten. I'm not overweight, but my body has this inclination to inch back up to where it was 20 pounds ago.

Yesterday I threw out half a hamburger and half my fries because I was satiated (could have finished it, but why?). Didn't throw out my remaining XL Coke though, lol. I don't care HOW many calories my soda has in it, I am NOT giving that up. I'll eat SlimFast before I'll give up my Pepsi / Coke habit.

Last night hubby came home and gave his bicycle a tuneup. KEWL, I thought! Got all excited when he said he was gonna start riding it every day, asked if we could do it together, and wouldn't that be fun? When he said he was going to ride it to work I about fell over... work is 15 miles from home!!! This from someone who hasn't ridden his bike in 2 years!!! Then he gave me "The Rest Of The Story".... they're working on the bridge near his work, the only other way to work requires circling around 20 additional miles (that's rural America for ya), so the workers got permission to park on the far side of the bridge and walk / bicycle across. Lazy bones is going to ride his bike across the bridge, LMAO. So it wasn't a health / fitness thang at all, just laziness!

Thinkin' about picking up a treadmill. Wondering if it would get used any more than the Bowflex. Probably not. Sigh!

Back to the 10-12 mile, daily, (if possible), bike ride, usually against stiff south winds. It certainly sweats the pounds off!

I started my diet in October. I went on the Phentermine Diet Pills. About a week ago, I was having chest pains and had an abnormal EKG. Found out it was from the Phentermine. As of last week I have lost 60 pounds. Since I have been off of them, I have cut down my breads and taters. I am a tater and caffeine girl. I walk a mile a day and exercise 30 minutes in the morning with GILAD. I love working out with him. I have gone down from 277 to 217.
I wish anybody luck when it comes to losing weight. Cause it is the hardest thing I have done. :O)
