Its A Boy!

  1. My daughter had her ultrasound on the 18th and my first grandchild is a boy.

Darn!...As much as I wanted a girl I couldn't bring myself to buy anything that isn't neutral.

There is no hope the ultrasound is wrong...the little darling is an exibitionist...rolled over spread eagle several times with a very clear veiw of his 5 'limbs'.

More importantly he also has: 2 kidneys, 4 chamber heart and 3 vessel cord. Good cord insertion and great placenta placement...now I can stop worrying. And he is still due 2/5/03.

Andrea is a bit disappointed but had been figuring that she wanted a girl so much it would probably be a boy, she was not amused when I told her that she will just have to have another baby...but next time pick a 'doner' with lots of sisters.

We do feel a little better after looking at the Old Navy Baby and Baby Gap websites...this is do-able. My husband was a little disappointed too but is over it...says he's not "babysitting no cutey-pie sissy boys"..."if he wants to stay with Paw-paw he will show up wearing a diaper and a wife-beater". The boys are beside themselves, I haven't broken it to them that it will be a few years before they can play football with him.

Awwwwww......how sweet! Congrats Gramma! The feeling will only get better for ya! Just wait until you hold the little darling in your arms for the very first time. He'll just melt your heart!

My firstborn grandchild is male also. He is still that "special" one in my eyes....and I have to be careful NOT to dote on him more than the others. I was told that I was doing that.....so have to watch myself. :chuckle

There's just something about that first grandbaby! Now I know why my oldest sister was so doted on by the grandmothers. (pouting) :chuckle

My heart leaps for joy for you! :kiss

Congratulations Nancy & Andrea! I'm so happy it's a healthy boy...you will have so much fun with that little guy...until of course your boys start including him in burping contests, etc :chuckle I bet they are excited too.

    Thank you everyone.

I live within an hour of 2 Carters and a Baby Gap outlet stores...plan to do a little shopping here pretty soon. Being the evil Mommy that I am I plan to stash it for a couple of months before I give it to her.

Brownie...I seem to recall you refering to him as 'he' before we knew...your in cahoots with Heather aren't you!

Congrats! Being a Grandma is whole different kind of world! I love it! We had our grandson before our granddaughter. It isn't difficult to find the cutest things for little boys, these days! If you are like most Grandmas that I know, your car automatically swerves toward those stores that sell baby stuff, and you always manage to find something new and different that Mommy and Baby are going to need.
Just a suggestion: gifts and showers never provide for enough diapers and baby wipes. I bought several packages of newborn and the next size up for my grandson, and the non-allergenic wipes and refills. They kept my grandson in diapers for the first month-sort of like the Diaper Service that my Mom got for me back in 1971 and '72, when my babies were born!
Best of luck, and health and happiness to Mom and Baby and You!
