Isn't it amazing?

  1. I was driving home from work today, practically in tears, feeling all sorry for myself...I'm 27, almost all my friends are married/have serious boyfriends/girlfriends...I'm so sick of hanging out with couples all the time. I was feeling so sad and lonely...my man lives 600 miles away and we have no plans to be closer...jeez, we've known each other 5 years, and it's painful for him to plan for the future...makes me so frustrated.

Anyway, I get home, convinced I'm going to lie down in bed and have a good bawling session, but instead, I take my new dog out for a romp in the park. Her energy and enthusiasm picked me right up! Way better than shots of JD could have.

Aren't animals great? I feel so lucky to be able to share my life with them.

Noooo! I had a bad experience cycling to school and saw a cat hit and had to sort out the dead cat and the driver of the car had stopped and was pretty shook up.

When I got back home I had to give my own cat (who has the worst excema on his hind quarters, any suggestions on this appreciated) a lecture on road safety.

I'm not sure he appreciated the seriousness of the situation though!

Animals are so much fun, they can always pick you up no matter how down you are, and they give unconditional love when you need it most. They are way more psychic than Miss Cleo.

    Hey Mel,
I know the feeling of going with someone for five years and was ready to settle down, but he wasn't ready. I felt I was wasting my time by then so I moved on. apparently he was a womanizer and had a couple of girlfriends that I had no idea about beause I spent so much time with him and never thought he had much time for anyone else. SUPRISE!
But the animal thing? It's great how they just know you're having a bad day and they swoop in and make ya feel a whole lot better. Thank God for unconditional love.

I don't fetch and I haven't mastered purring yet...but I know what your talking about...the alone thing and whatnot. I know I can come here (allnurses) and feel better. Someone here always brightens my day. She's great. I wish I had a dog or something, but I'm never home enough to care for them. Mel, I'm glad your dog lifts up your spirts. That prefect guy is out there, as for me...well ??

Thanks everyone. I just talked to him on the phone. We're going on a cruise in April, but for some reason he has some reservations about going. Every other time I've tried to get us on a vacation together he freaks out. Even though we used to live together....lol. Part of him is really excited to go, but the other part thinks it's "too serious". *****

Other than that and the distance, things seeem to be going well between us. We see each other about once a month--he comes down here more than I go up there b/c Vermont is so isolated. He's very sweet and we love each other a lot. He says he always wants me in my life, but that it's the wrong time for him to have such a serious relationship. We don't want to give up on each other, and it's not like either of us are dating anyone else. Part of me wants to move on, but right now there are no prospects (all married friends and all that).

I'm hoping I'll make some single friends in nursing school, and then move far, far away.

I'd like to think that there is a perfect someone for everybody, but I don't. So many people lead lonely lives, I just know it's not true.

But of course attitude is everything. Make the most of what you got, the future's always bright, every dark cloud has a silver lining, things can only get better, etc.

Sorry, maybe I'm just pms'ing or something. Or maybe I need a girlfriend to go out dancing with me. Damn! None of them will go b/c they're staying home with their honeys.
