Is your SOCIAL SECURITY number on the internet??

  1. There is a dangerous web site named www.anybirthday.com that may have your personal information on it including your address and SOCIAL SECURITY number. Apparently, theives are taking this info and using it in idenity theft.

I tried to get on it this morning, but the site wasn't responding.

You can delege the information by following this procedure

    1. Go to www.anybirthday.com
    2. Click on search
    3. Enter your name, but no zip code (sometimes they are wrong)
    4. Click find birthday. If you find your name and birthday, write it down exactly like they have it.
    5. Click on FAQ
    6. Click on privacy statement.
    7. Click OPT OUT option
    8. Enter info
    9. Click remove

Wait 10-15 minutes and go back and make sure your name is gone.

You should share this with everyone you know and care about

I just tried it, putting my name in and hitting 'SEARCH', and it said the page was not available.

    Ditto for me.

I e-mailed them and told them this was NOT ok -- and I wanted them to fix their site -- but I think what they're trying to do is get us to sign up for the 'membership'. I was really upset when I saw your post -- but there is LOTS of personal information about each of us on the Internet. Public records are public, and there are people whose FT job is to glean information about us from public records. Oh well. The only way not to have a public record is not to work, have a bank account, see a doctor, and/or have a credit card. But this is REALLY getting scary -- people can sit at their home computers and intrude on our personal lives.

Worked for me... put in several names of my loved ones, but thank goodness none were in their system. 2 identical names did show, but their birthdates were incorrect, so it must have been others with the same name.

Thanx for the site ! Good to know these things !

I did as instructed. Still find my name on the search.

It's up, and I removed my birthday, although I don't know if my SS# was listed.

I was in there! They even had my zip code right. Thanks for the info!

That's good. I wonder how many other similar web-sites exist.

This is possibly the best information I've picked up off this BB yet! Thanks for posting it.

PS-I was amazed at how many people have the exact same name - my 1st name is not that common.

Odd, I was not listed but both my sisters were. Wonder why? Not upset, mind you but I WILL tell my sisters about this latest invasion of privacy. Really IRKS me.

Found myself under my maiden name and my parents' old zip code (I hadn't lived there since 1997, and they moved last summer).
