In praise of friends

  1. Just getting the warm and fuzzies flowing for all of us on this fine chilly morning (well it's chilly here).

Every once in a while I have to stop and say thanks to God (or whoever) for the wonderful friends in my life. For the ones who live here (you know who you are :kiss ). I'd like to introduce the others to you.

This picture was taken a few months ago at my younger sister's wedding (I am the sunburnt matron of honor at the right).

The beautiful (tall) brunette at the left is Vicky. I met her in grade 10 and she is probably the only person fro highschool that I still see. A very loving and generous soul who works with troubled youth in a community service program. She is a single mom with a beautiful 10 month old daughter.

The handsome guy at the centre and I have been attached at the hip since I was 18. He is my friend and my family have informally adoped him as brother and son. I introduce him as my brother and we torture each other on a regular basis like real siblings do. I have called him Cameron since we met b/c he reminds me so much of the Cameron on Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The nickname stuck, and he is known as Cameron by many. We met in my first year of University and lived in the same residence as each other (St. John's College). He is a Social Worker.

    Nice thread, adrie!

Friends are very special people to have in our lives. I hold all of my friends very close and personal to my heart. :kiss

Here is a pic of one of my three best friends. Kim and I went to college together, spent boo-koo time with one another outside of the classroom, in each other's homes, with each other's kids, etc. I loved her then.....I love her now.....Kim is my dear dear friend. I was the only bridal attendant in her second wedding at her family church. She told me she picked me because I was her ONLY true best friend. Awwwww...wasn't that precious of her! Since she had no sisters of her own, she considers me the sister she never had.....and I call her sister because she treated me better than any of my own biological sisters ever did. :kiss

This is Nicole. We took this of ourselves when we went on vacation a few years ago to Vancouver. We had a blast. She marched me across the whole city by foot -- wrecked my knees. Both got lost in Richmond trying to get to the IKEA.

I've known her since I was 3 and we were both in nursery school. I felt so special going to nursery school, because I thought it was the same thing as nursing school (my mom had gone there). Nowadays she's my tech support person whenever I have a computer crisis.

Adrie.....it is a blessing to have such good friends. I have several that I would trust with my whole life. Other than my ULTIMATE FRIEND...Jesus...and my dear friend Kim, another trusting friend of mine is Lori. Kim, Lori, and I were all in the same nursing program, and became very close friends...still remain close to this day. Since I've already showed you Kim and I together......here is Lori and I together at our pinning ceremony. :kiss

Same here. We are friends for mysterious reasons, as mine are all so different from me and from each other!! They are GOLD, PURE GOLD, for love and support -- or even just being quiet when ya need it! Thanks for sharing your friends with us, adrie and Renee!!

    Love this: (supposedly "Arabian Proverb")

A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's life, both chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

So true! Wishing you all good, wise and loving friends. -- D

I have a few wonderful friends.
A beautiful lady in England named Karen. We met on the net and are like sisters now... wouldn't know what to do without her!

Lori and I are really close. She just got her nursing license 6 months before I did! We've been together thru thick and thin in each others lives and will always be.....

Laura and I have never lost contact with each other in all the years we've known each other. We met when we both lived in N.C. and that was a million years ago!

    Yes, I agree....friends are great.....

I agree, friends are wonderful. However it does have a drawback. When a close friend dies you never get over it. I had a buddy from the army who lived in OH, we kept in touch and saw each other at least once a year. Bear (his nickname) passed away about 2 1/2 years ago, and I miss him so bad. Died in his sleep, evidentally an MI. Anyone else on here had that happen? If so, how did you handle it?
