I'm goin to Vegas!!!!

  1. I'll be in Las Vegas, NV April 21-26th for a Critical Care conference! All expenses paid, well except gambling money of course. I'd so like to meet LVRN and anybody else that's attending this conference. The conference is at The Mirage and that's also the hotel that I'll be staying at! I'm arriving the evening of the 21st and leaving the morning of the 26th! I'm so excited as I've never been to Vegas and have never been on a plane. So, if anyone wants to get together, let me know!

You didn't ask , but after I got there I learned: People do not ""dress up"" for LV. Take a comfy pair of walking shoes, "sneakers". You can walk in & and out of casino's all night...they are spectacular.
Get yourself over to a travel agent and also call LD Lv chamber of commerce & have them mail you a tourist package.
Siegried & Roy and their 25 white tigers are at the mirage. I charged $225 on my credit card to see their show. It was worth every penny. You'll need to call now or ASAP to put your reservation in to see their show...and its' not 7 nites a week. Look up white tigers on google and scroll down to S & R. So many people spend a couple of thou to go to LV and never see that show, don't understand it...awesome and unforgettable.

This I can vouch for. When I was growing up out there, people used to get dressed up when heading out to the casinos. Now, not really. Shorts and flip flops.

The Mirage is our second home! I love that hotel. I would recommend Seigfried and Roy definitely, Blue Man Group at the Luxor, and Mystere' at Treasure Island. All three are truly spectacular shows. For some more Vegas style shows, there is Skin Tight at Bally's, I think.

    Have fun!

    Yep, kinda.

My grandparents owned and operated a fruit business in Milwaukee during the summer months, and then in winter lived in Vegas. We would fly out there every winter and spend months with them. Finally, in the early 80's, my parents moved out there. Unfortunately, we then moved back to Wisconsin. But I lived there for a time and always liked it. We'd always return to visit my grandparents until they died. So in a way, Vegas was like a second home. Except now things have changed sooo much. The strip has totally expanded, alot of the old casinos are gone and it's not all "lights" anymore but rather more themed. Fremont Street has that lazer thing which I don't prefer; I liked the old Fremont Street with all the gazillion lights and 50cent shrimp cocktails.

But hey, it's still Vegas and I still love it.

Do take just one black sexy dress in case you get lucky, other than that...shorts, tee-shirts, jeans, swimsuit, and good walking shoes. Make sure before you start gambling that you get a card from the casino...the more $$$'s you gamble or the amount of time you gamble can really ad up the comps...something as little as free meals to as big as free nights stay

Also, I've been to that conference...mostly for manager and educator types. Not as good as NTI, but is held yearly in Vegas so the location is better than anything NTI ever offered.

Do you have room in your carry-on??? If my NY trip falls through, we are taking a junket to LV and then renting a car to Phoenix (nephew lives there...haven't seen him in 2 1/2 years). Plus have to visit Hoover Dam....my absolute favorite place in the whole world.....

    Kristy

PS...my cousin is a mgr at the Mirage. If you can't get Sig/Roy tix....let me know. I may be able to help. He always sets us all up all over LV....

WOO!!! Another visitor to the BIG CHAIR!!

C'mon down, nurse-lou!! Would love to meet ya!!

I have to disagree with the Sigfried and Roy thing. "O", the show at the Bellagio is the only show worth seeing for the kind of big bucks you'd shell out over at the Mirage. But, keep in mind I am not a fan of magic shows at ALL.

Now, if you want to have a girly good time, let's check out the Chippendales dancers at the Rio. Or, if you REALLY want to get down and dirty and see some REAL male strippers, we'll go DOWNTOWN. BWAH HAHAHAHAHAHAH.
