Ideas for a easy family meal?

  1. Hi guys,

Hope someone has some ideas...many of you are from areas that enjoy different foods. This year at the cottage I am planning another family get-together something easy since I still don't have an oven that works (so will be using crockpots).

Found a wonderful type of dish at Sams Club as we call in MN a type of "hot dish" called Tex-mex...has beef, corn, pepper, and a wonderfu spice - just right. So now I am trying to come up with compliments to this.

Plan so far: Tex-mex hotdish in the crockpot
Corn bread (has cheese and sour cream in it)
Drummies? (I saw a recipe that they use taco seasoning to make these)
Maybe some roll-ups on the side?

I would like some ideas for salads that might go good with this mix or a side of veggies...anyone have an idea that is tried and true?

Oh and what type of wine would be best?

    Thanks - I'll be checking!

A BBQ and a stove top is all you need. 1 pound of pasta, 1 jar of sauce of your liking and sweet sausage. Dump it all together and you're good to go.

Boil the sausage, then throw it on the grill until cooked (don't burn). Meanwhile, cook the pasta and heat the sauce. Slice the sausage up and throw it in with the pasta, dump sauce over and toss. Goes great with toast!

Yah but Conrad how is that working with my "Tex-Mex" theme? And this is MN in December, it didn't work too good grilling last year even at 30 above took forever! No confirmation in the Farmers Alminac that it'll be warm this year here!
