I pulled a gun on some crackheads!

  1. Hey guys,

The SCARIEST thing happened to me. One of my CNAs had to leave at 0345 yesterday d/t a family emergency, and so I called the 7-3 CNAs to see if one could come in early to cover. I got in touch with one who could, but she needed me to come get her. I followed the directions the best I could, it turns out she lives in the worst neighborhood in my town. I got nervous and pulled the .45 from my glove box and put it in my lap. Then I missed the street I was supposed to turn down and ended up in this alley/loading dock thing. It's pitch black, my window is open so I can look for landmarks, and now I'm in a blind alley. I started to turn my car around (like a five point turn) and the next thing I knew these four big guys came out of nowhere and were crowded at my window, leaning in and saying "Hey, baby, what you lookin' for?" I thought I was going to be carjacked, and I grabbed the .45, pointed it at them and said "You need to leave!" in what I intended to be a tough confident voice but came out squeaky and shaky. They ran as soon as I pulled the gun, and I finally found the CNA's house. When I told her what had happened, she burst out laughing and said that the alley I had ended up in was the place where people went to buy crack, and that the men were trying to sell to me, and that they probably thought I was a narc and tossed away their "stash" as they ran!

All I know is, I have never been so happy to have a gun. Oh, and also that I am NEVER going NEAR that part of town again!!!

That's one constructive way to brandish a gun.

OMG! That really must have been scary. At a time like that I can see where you would have been very happy having a gun to point at them. Next time tell the nurse to take a taxi in to work!

Bring her to work, and don't let her leave!!

(I'll bet the cab co. won't go to that neighborhood.)

Actually, the cab company WON'T go there, in fact the CNA told me that pizza places won't deliver there either. I can guarantee you that I will never go to get her again, no matter how shortstaffed we are. Fortunately though, she told me that her car was almost done being repaired and so she will have her own transportation again.

It was really so terrifying... one of the guys actually leaned into my car window, he stunk and had nasty dreadlocks that actually left grease on the sides of my windowframe. I sure prayed hard after it was over! And I am so glad my husband keeps the .45 in the glove compartment. Just another example of how wise it is to utilize your constitutional right to bear arms.

Good for you. Thank God you're safe.

So do you like your .45? I've been researching guns because I'm moving to the big city and will need one. Just don't know what kind to get. I don't want a peashooter and I don't want a big gun that's too heavy. I don't want to kill anyone but I would like a gun that would stop them in their tracks.

Thank God you did have that gun. Wonder what would have happened if you didn't.

    That's so scary!!

I find it so hard to read all about which gun you think's best etc. It's weird because average Joe public here do not carry guns & that's the way I like it. In all my 9-10 years as a nurse I have Never seen or treated a gun shot wound - & I live & work in London.

Luckily I'm going to be living in a quiet rural place in Florida because I truly don't think I could ever carry a gun it's just such an alien idea to me.

Let's face it in the UK if the armed branch of the Police shoot someone they are liable to face criminal charges if subsequently they are found to have not followed procedures to the letter. Which I think is ridiculous! Even our soldiers in Iraq were charged after shooting an Iraqi in a war situation!! They were cleared but that's truly scary!!

I hope I never have to face a situation like you did Lori, I guess I'll just have to be really careful where I go!

I bet there's NO WAY you'll be going back to that neck of the woods!!
