The SCARIEST thing happened to me. One of my CNAs had to leave at 0345 yesterday d/t a family emergency, and so I called the 7-3 CNAs to see if one could come in early to cover. I got in touch with one who could, but she needed me to come get her. I followed the directions the best I could, it turns out she lives in the worst neighborhood in my town. I got nervous and pulled the .45 from my glove box and put it in my lap. Then I missed the street I was supposed to turn down and ended up in this alley/loading dock thing. It's pitch black, my window is open so I can look for landmarks, and now I'm in a blind alley. I started to turn my car around (like a five point turn) and the next thing I knew these four big guys came out of nowhere and were crowded at my window, leaning in and saying "Hey, baby, what you lookin' for?"
I thought I was going to be carjacked, and I grabbed the .45, pointed it at them and said "You need to leave!" in what I intended to be a tough confident voice but came out squeaky and shaky. They ran as soon as I pulled the gun, and I finally found the CNA's house. When I told her what had happened, she burst out laughing and said that the alley I had ended up in was the place where people went to buy crack, and that the men were trying to sell to me, and that they probably thought I was a narc and tossed away their "stash" as they ran!
All I know is, I have never been so happy to have a gun. Oh, and also that I am NEVER going NEAR that part of town again!!!
