I know you've heard all this before but..........

  1. The prospect of taking state boards petrifies me. I know I graduated 4th in my class, but THIS IS STATE BOARDS!!!! The whole enchilada, the whole ball game, playing for all the marbles, ect.. The process is scary enough, but failure is not an option for me. I'm mighty intimidated by the whole process. Plus the waiting you have to endure afterwards is unbearable I hear. I just want to pass and get my LPN LICENSE and be a good ordinary citizen. This test thing is really freaking me out guys.......... Hope I make it. Warrior Woman

Do they have question and answer LPN books like they have for RN boards? If so get a couple of them. Try to get ones with rationales for the answers at the end of the book or the end of each chapter. They told us to do 1,000 questions in the 6 weeks or so before we took boards (weren't computerized then). Any question you get wrong or guess at look up the answer and find out why. I think they told us to shoot for 200 questions a day in one sitting each day for the couple of weeks prior to taking boards. It worked for me for Boards and worked really well for the CCRN exam. The more questions the better. I saw alot of those "practice" questions again on the actual tests.
Congrats on graduation! Love the new wheels! You will do fine. Take some of the pressure off yourself. You are allowed to fail, WW. You can always take the test again! Just knowing that should help alleviate some of the pressure you are putting on yourself.
    Good luck!

When are your boards? In the spring or do you still have time to take fall boards?

Keep the faith Theresa! It's NORMAL to be a ball of jitters before taking that exam. Just don't let it send you into orbit because if you do, you have to relinquish that mighty fine corvette over to me. You can't take it to orbit with you, ya know.....so calm down.....breathe.......that's a girl.....you're doing fine.....let it out slowly......take a ride in that nice red t-top corvette.....wave at some nice lookin' guy.....and speed up and leave him in the wind. :chuckle FIRST....BUCKLE UP FOR SAFETY!!! And...that's an order young lady! :kiss

An old friend of mine took the test on the 30th, found out she passed it 3 days later !.. She said that 1/2 of the questions were easy and 1/2 were a little harder and there was ONE calculation question. I've heard that all the questions are different for all.

She used many NCLEX CD's and books to prepare, some of her classmates shared these and traded. Sounds like a good idea.

    Good Luck
