I have a fear of... C'mon tell, it'll be theraputic!

  1. It's got to be heights!
Picture it... Lawrence grade school 1968 a beautiful old school with a library designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, (always knew there was something special about that library), hard wood floors, 16 foot high tin ceilings, and a stairway that went from the basement all the way up to the 3rd floor!
Even when I was a 1st grader I can remember Ms. Cosberry getting on me about not going up the stairs on the correct side! The closer she tried to get me to the center of the stairway, (where you could see all the way down) the more my feet would start to feel tingly!
    So what's your fear?

Flying. I have to take Ativan just to keep from passing out (although passing out wouldn't be a bad thing--at least I wouldn't be scared!)

I hate caves. My daughter's class went on a field trip last year to spend the night in a cave. I think they call it splunking. WHY would anyone want to go underground to do anything. And sleep, I don't think so. The instructions for the field trip went something like this. Don't bring anything that you don't want to haul for the last mile of the trip through the woods to the cave. Bring a sleeping bag and a shower curtain to lay it on as the ground is very wet. Bring toliet paper in a plastic bag. If it is not kept in plastic, the moisture in the environment will make it useless before it is needed. Why would anybody want to sleep like this. Who would call this FUN. We missed that field trip. I can go into a cave if I have to. But the only reason that I can think of that would make me have to go in a cave would for one of my children to be in there and I am the only one who can get them out.

Spiders. I cannot stand be near them, see them on tv or in books or even talking about them creeps me out & I start scanning the room for the little devils

I used to dread Oct. 1st growing up, it was the day the masses of spiders would show up in the basement, especially the laundry room, like clockwork. I kid you not, I swear they have calendars!! Luckily, no basement now.

Don't like confined spaces---but who really does!?

I went to school with someone who was terrified of wet paper, ie paper towels etc, I wonder if she used toilet paper? Anyway, it was weird

I fear FAILURE more than ANYthing....but I am willing to take risks in order to grow....but it takes lots of pep-talking and "puffing up" before I will try. HEY it took me 5 years to get up the courage to even APPLY to Nursing School. Took me 5 more to try and go back for my BSN......at this rate, I will start my MSN when I am about 70. That is how fearful I am. Good thread, Guiseppe.
