I hate my vacuum cleaner! Please advise...

  1. The last 2 or 3 vacuums I have bought were crappy. Now, I didn't spend a ton of money on each vacuum but enough (I thought). I think for $70-80 you should get something that works halfway decent. The last one I bought was a Eureka 12 amp called The Boss. Of course, I cannot find the receipt to take it back. My Mom said up until a few years ago, she had an ElectroLux that lasted for years and years. It cost more but it was worth it. Do I need to cash in my stocks and buy a Dysan or Kirby? Whatever it is I told my husband HE can be responisble for buying the next one. Maybe he will have better luck!

What kind of vacuum do you have?

I really like my Hoover Windtunnel (not bagless) but it was around, if I remember correctly, well over $200. But it was money well spent. My sister has the same problem you do, can't seem to get a vacuum that works well.
Personally I would love to have one of those Dyson animal vacuums, (since I have 3 pets)...have heard nothing but good things about them, and hopefully someday can get one.

I might try one of the Dysons (is that the vacuum the Brit on TV advertises he designed??), if I didn't have my Langerhaus. I paid about $400 for it, but it works really well. Got it at a vacuum shop, not at Costco or Sears . . . It really sucks!

    Good luck w/your decision.

I've not heard good things about the Dysons.

My stepmom and her mom both have Electrolux. The thing's worked for years.

I have a $64 Hoover. Bought it 5 years ago, no problems with it.

I have a Dyson and I love it. It's the best thing I've found that works on all the pet hair around here.

There are a lot of good vacuums out there. The better ones do tend to cost more, though.

I think the Hoover gets the job done and all for a reasonable price too.

we have an oreck and love it. we have 2 cats and a dog and they all shed. this vacuum really picks up well. my parents own a 7 cabin and 4 motel room resort, and orecks are all they use. they have had the same one for about 10 years and it still works like the day they bought it. they use one at home to because they have a golden retriver ( you could make a living at selling sweaters from dog hair the it sheds!!) and a cat and this thing makes their carpet look like new. mine came with the little multi-function handheld vacuum that is also great!
