I finally quit!!!!

  1. Handed in my resignation yesterday after working in that place for a whole bunch of years. Place is becoming more toxic by the day and more dangerous. I found a nice smaller community hospital about a half hour from home. It is non teaching (YEAH-no more residents!!!!) and is very pro nurse. That part might take time getting used to. My future boss seems like a wonderful person and is also well respected by both the staff and her higher ups. SO I am excited to be trying something different. I'll still be ICU but in a nicer, nurse friendlier setting! I start there in the beginning of October. I felt the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders when I resigned!

Good luck to you. I know the feeling of freedom. I just recently, in July, left a job I had been at for 15 years. I have never regretted it for even one minute.

I really admire your courage and resolve in finding a better job. Why be miserable when you don't have to? Anyway, I am currently working om myself in many avenues. Some of the discoveries I've made are painful to be sure bot oh so necessary for me to become whole again. So I applaud your decision to move forward. STICK TO YOUR GUNS,GIRL!!! I love ya, Warrior Woman.

I found out late last night that a couple of former colleagues at my old hospital are working there and love it. The acuity is less and the patients don't flounder like they do where I am now. The new place is also going to be getting a cath lab in a couple of months so we will start to see some of the same types of patients I am used to dealing with. As soon as I spoke to the manager and toured the unit at the open house, it just felt right. Guess I finally wised up and started taking my own advice! Life is too short to stay where you aren't happy. I have no doubt this will be a positive step in my life. Thanks for all the good thoughts!!
