I caved

  1. I get my first check tomorrow, and I ordered the Amazing Amanda doll for DD for part of her Santa stuff. It was the only thing she repeatedly asked for, but I know a few bill collectors who'd rather I give them that money, lol! Anybody else get something ridiculously expensive for the kids this year?

She supposedly remembers dates, birthdays etc. Also she can identify what food she's being fed.

You aren't the only one who caved. We got both kids ipods this year after spending a year trying to convince them there are other, less expensive MP3 players out there. Ah well, I guess you have to give in to the pressure once in a while.

The X-Box 360 premium system. And he may not even have it in time for Christmas.

    Dare I ask:

    how much?

probably more than I will spend.

The X-Box premium is $399 plus tax. I only have one child, though, which gives my gift giving budget a little more wiggle room.

I just got my husband something ridiculously expensive, but means a lot. Hopefully no one will run into my husband and tell him , but I got him a "discovery flight" through "Be A Pilot." I already have some time logged (25 or so hours) and he plays so much with Flight Simulator. He has mentioned something about taking flight lessons later on in life, but I thought that it might be great to get him some experience now, to integrate MSFS with "real life", it will help him understand FS a little better, and down the road we may start flying together. This is pretty exciting as we have the flight scheduled for Christmas Eve. This will be fun, as long as the weather holds.

Hey Deb, There's a website called www.beapilot.com where you can get a certificate for a "discovery flight" at participating airports. For $50, it amounts to about half an hour of actual flight time (not including taxi, run-up, waiting for other aircraft). I decided that I wanted to get a little more time for him, so I opted for an hour, which is a little more expensive, but darn it, he's worth it! There are so many municipal airports which take these, you really won't have a problem finding one. I hope this helps! It's really A LOT of fun. Once I get my RN, I suppose we'll have a bit more $$ for flying.

I've been saving, but didn't know what to get my DH, but I found the one. A roadmaster Magellan GPS

Great idea, Jess!! I think that I'll get my man a GPS one day, but I think I'll do the pilot thing for this year. Maybe for his birthday in April, we'll see.

    Thanks for the idea!

What's Christmas for if not getting into debt and spoiling your kids. She's going to be happy and the joy will be worth it. (I hope)

Personallly, I've been spoiled over the years with expensive gifts like my mp3 player, cd player, a nice watch etc. But I'm worth it, and that's how it should be. I buy spouse underwear and get electronics in return.
