I can't wait till my daughter is home more often for dinner.......

  1. dd is taking nursing pre-reqs. she is also a cna, although she doesn't work as one.

hubs and ds are both grocery clerks.

i'm getting so lonely at dinner, because nobody wants to hear about my day! the guys will start talking about the milk crate that exploded, or the freezer that shut off during the night, or the guy who bolted with a fifth of booze under his coat. i don't have anybody to share about the nurse kevorkian joke, or about the pt that made me cry when she told me "i love you".........i tried to share some stuff with them and they both just stared at me with "yeah...........and.....?" expressions.

anybody else feel like a fifth wheel at home?

I feel like a fifth wheel everywhere, but what's new?

It will be nice to have someone to talk to that can relate, won't it?

my line of work, doesn't invite dinner conversation, or at any other time...
unless, of course, i got attacked, then they're all ears.

Les, I don't try to go into detail to gross everyone out, but geez......I talk about the pump that I can't get to shut up and they look at me like "HUH???"

Um that is why this board is here. I generally have learned not to talk shop away from work except at this board. It is true no one wants to hear it. You do need a place to vent though and this is it.

If your kids talking shop is not something that interest you consider a no shop talk rule at least at the dinner table.

Agnus, I don't mind them talking shop, but I get left out of the conversation.

shouldn't dd want to hear your stories... especially since she's becoming a nurse?.......

Yes, but DD isn't home!!! She usually works the late shift, so there's no one here who is interested in my day.

OK, dumb question but what does DD and DS mean? I am gathering that it means son and daughter, right? But why THAT particular abbreviation?

I share how my days went with my husband....he loughs when I lough and he stays silent when I am mad!!
Yesterday I had a terrible day, soooo busy I did not even have time to go to the bathroom for 13 hrs.....I was soo upset, I went to the break room and phoned my husband and started to bawl....I rattled on and on and ofcourse crying....my husband told me "if you want to quit, why dont you quit, I have a job, we will manage" ....I was still upset and I told him to shut up and go to work....
My husband tries to listen to me because I think he feels bad for me eventhough sometimes he does not have a clue what the heck I am talking about!!........lol
