I am so angry, I could spit nails

  1. I am not talking to my husband, I wanted to adpot a puppy today, wanted one since I was a kid. My husband said "NO" can you believe this? I am a grown woman, work hard, own my home, and I am being told "NO". I am livid..........we have no children, been together 12 years.........no kids on the horizon either (long story). All I want is a ******* dog.........I am not even going to try a talk to him...........yes I know this is very childish, but gosh darn it I want a dog, and I am so pi$$ed that this thing (hubby) is telling me no............what gives him the god given right to tell me "NO"?

Anyway, thank you all for letting me vent

ok first off, why does he say "no" and why is HIS word law? Just curious. He does not seem to care much for your happiness if "no" is just cause "he says so"....unless there is a good reason, I can't understand why he would deny you the companionship and love a dog could provide you.......I just can't. Is he allergic? Does he fear dogs? Does he fear the work/commitment dog ownership would require? Do you have TIME to devote to a dog? (they are a lot of work, I can attest to that).... Can you shed light on this a bit? Anyhow I am sorry you are so upset. I think he at least owes you some reasons WHY he says "No"....

I can imagine your frustration as a dog lover myself. However, I think you should never get a dog unless everyone in the house wants one. The dog suffers for it if you do. I could never marry someone who doesn't like dogs.

What are his reasons for not wanting a dog? I can understand how you must feel. Life is to short to not enjoy the things you love. Why not get rid of him and get 2 dogs?

lol i like kayzee's line of thinking..... thought of that a time or two myself.

Oh Man! How frustrating! We just had that same issue in our house! My best friend's dog (pure lab) had puppies (dad was pure lab too) and she was GIVING them away...as in FREE!! We had just lost a dog and I thought "what great timing" - my husband didn't agree and we fought for days over this!!! UGH!!! mind you, if he wanted something it would have been in our house before I was even informed of his desire for whatever the 'thing' was....it depends upon who wants what - ugh! BTW - in the end, I won and we got one of the puppies - she's so sweet!! Oh, guess who snuggles with her the most??!! My husband!!!!! figures!!!! =)

    I'd be pizzed to.

But considering the time of year...I'd leave it go for now, if you don't get a puppy for Christmas then revisit it (it maybe the reason he is so flatly "no"...it would ruin his plans).

If it were me, and this is just my opinion, I would go and get myself that puppy.

    I think you should, too.

That sounds like me, except I am mad at my hubby for a completely different reason.
I agree with kayzee, dump him & get 2 warm cuddly puppies. They are always so sweet & they don't know how to say "No."

Puppies get up in the middle of the night though which is too bad cuz other than that they are the best!! Our new puppy has had a couple of medical issues too - and of course, guess who's "fault" that was?!?!
