    This is really aweful.
We've had so little rain this year.

Okay, dumb question from someone whose county is on constant flood watch:

If they have water-shooting fireboats why didn't they wet down as much of the island as possible after the warning that it could catch?

This is the latest. Catalina is bigger than fire boats could reach. They might be able to hit the coast line, but not where the fire is. I imagine they are using water and fire retardant plane/helicopter drops.

Camp Pendleton was "hovercrafting" military firefighting equipment over there last night.

I hope it doesn't reach the city . . . . .so many historic buildings.

    I've only been there once . . .. .

They're reporting Avalon as being spared. The fire was very close to the southeast part of the island, which is where Avalon is. Very scary.

Too bad we can't move water from places that have too much to places that have too little!

I'm so glad Avalon was spared. I've spent quite a bit of time there; it's a beautiful place that would be a shame to lose.

    Peace,
    Cathie
