How Much Leftist Ideology Has Corrupted Nursing? - page 2

I'm heading into my BScN in September, and wondering how much leftist nonsense will be in my program? Should I expect to see a lot of it, or very little? Considering it's a BSc I'm hoping very... Read More

Jeepers, I was just wondering how much of my program will be in the humanities. I have taken a few courses in the past that seemed to be taught presupposing a postmodern ideology. I pretty much only have an interest in science.
You are going into a career that involves constant contact with humans, but you don't want to learn anything about what makes us human?

That would depend where your program is located, the left coast or the right coast.:

As a leftist myself, I have tried my very best to vote for people who will incorporate the most nonsense into ALL courses of study, not just nursing. I was so disappointed when I, as a nursing student, saw that all of my instructors kept politics out of classroom discussions. They focused their ENTIRE lectures on health. It was utterly ridiculous. One of my instructors did try to incorporate a bit of nonsense when she showed sympathy for a patient who couldn't afford his anticoagulants and had thus suffered a PE and several DVTs. Hopefully you won't have to endure such horrors.

I adore how you say "jeepers" like your initial post wasn't intentionally inflammatory at all.

A big part of nursing, IMO (though I'm merely a student) is humanities. So if you're not interested in all that people, culture, empathy stuff, maybe something else would suite you. If you really love the science aspect, look into getting a degree in laboratory technology.

But if he becomes a Lab tech, he's bound to eventually have to report a critical lab value to a leftist nurse! Who will inevitably try to corrupt him with nonsense!

I wrote "jeepers" simply because it's a common word in my vocabulary...

My comment was very specific... leftist ideology is postmodern, postmodernism rejects science, the humanities in my experience presuppose postmodernism. This is the issue. I like learning about people and culture, so long as the classes don't presuppose leftist ideology.

Personally I'm fairly "center" in my political outlook.

I'm glad to hear your experience was fairly neutral throughout school.

Love learning about people, so long as it's not taught from a leftist perspective. If the humanities courses I have taught to me are not presupposing leftist ideology, I'm game.

Where did you come up with that?

Well golly gee cheez whiz, nursing is a lot of humanities which are definitely corrupting the sciences. I hear the humanities are basically just rapists and drug dealers crossing the border illegally into science.

So maybe a hard right wing science is better. Not environmental science, because duuhhhhh.

But maybe engineering with a specialization in giant wall construction.

**** the humanities. They need to go back to where they came from.

The current left's position is fundamentally postmodern. I'd encourage you to check out Hicks book Explaining Postmodernism, it's a literal guide to how the left think:
Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault by Stephen R.C. Hicks — Reviews, Discussion, Bookclubs, Lists

Obviously there are exceptions, and I shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush, but the book will give you some wicked insight into the "current" left.

I have literally no idea what you're talking about. I'm gonna guess American politics? I'm Canadian just for the record.
