how many of you can't get the day going without exercise?

  1. I have started going to the lap pool Monday through Friday. It's not only great for exercise, but it is very calming too. I leave feeling better able to face the day. I was just wondering if you all feel the same and if so, what is your favorite form of exercise?

In good weather I ride bikes. In fair weather I walk. In bad weather I do indoor aerobic tapes or go to gym. Yes, I can't live without it.(exercise) It is my drug. However, because I have asthma I have to be careful because my lungs will act up if I push to hard. 1/2 to 1hr a day is enough, can't do outdoor stuff in real cold or windy weather. Believe it or not rain or snow is OK as long as it is not bitterly cold or strong winds are not blowing. It is kind a hard to get out on mornings cause on this new job daylight shift has a 6am start. Soon I will be mostly 3-11. I have a lot of experience with this and if I am working that day I never do more than a two mile walk or 4 mile bike ride. Believe me you do not to want blow yourself out and then go in to do a brutal shift. It is ok on off days to go at it harder. Sometimes I think about adding swimming to my routine. My sister swims at the same gym I belong to 3 or 4 evenings a week, maybe while I am daylight I will join her.

I'd agree with the statement that exercise is my drug of choice

I do seem to get much more accomplished if I start the day with a jog or workout at Curves.

And my mood is lifted all day . . .

12 to 16 miles/day on bicycle is my addiction. HATE winter when
    I can't ride!!

Well, I can go a day without exercise but not much more than that.

My choice of exercise? I love to lift weights. It's very empowering to get stronger and become more shaplier but not muscle bound either. Exercise is necessary for me or I would gain weight since I love to eat.

My second choice of exercise is to an outside activity with my husband and kids. Sometimes we ride bikes around the park, other times we will jog. Occassionally we try to play tennis but we suck so bad that most of my exercise is from chasing the ball.

Shamrock - I hate winters too since I can't go out! I'm ready to move further south so I can still exercise outside in the winter time.

I WISH I were a person who couldn't get my day going without
    exercise.

    I'm basically lazy.

It's an hour of coffee and newspaper for me.

And then an hour of Allnurses...
    Then, I'm up & going!

I'm lazy on the days I work 12 hour shifts, that seem to be more like 13 or 14. Just can't muster the energy. But the other four days I try to fit in the gym and yoga class.

I do cardio & lift weights, but it's after work, not before. I do NOT like to sweat in the mornings, and I usually leave for work within half an hour after I get out of bed. I was an athlete in high school, and I guess I'm still programmed (after all these years) to do stuff after the school/work day.

I used to hate to run. About a year and a half ago, I made myself do it and within a couple of months, I not only liked it, I crave it!!!! I feel so much better when I get up and run before I go to work!!!!

AT YOUR CERVIX: That is what happened to me. I started jogging right before my 20 year high school reunion (vanity).

I ended up loving it . . . and that is amazing.

I envy all you people who are so dedicated or should I say addicted I keep telling myself I am going to get up and go to the gym in the mornings, but its just something hard about making myself get out of the bed when I don't have to...

My hubby mountain bikes, I can't b/c I have a knee problem, but he also goes to the gym on Mon, Wed, and Fri and lifts weights.. He has lost like 25lbs in the past two months...

    Ugh............
