How long did you wait to set the date???

  1. I am one of those women who has been dreaming and planning her wedding since I was a little girl.
Now that the beautiful engagment ring I NEVER dreamed of has come along I was just wondering.....How long should I wait to set a date?

    I'm getting antsy!

We chose 1yr, 1 month---needed to save money as in college--worked out well. No debt at start of marriage----if I could just say that today!

Engaged in February after dating 3 years. Picked up marriage license in March. He was in the army so we waited for a long weekend in June and got married on Saturday and he went back to work the following Monday.

We were shacked up for about a year and a half.
We had moved out of state and were missing our friends so we set the date for Dec 25th (Don't get married on that day folks) just for the party.
    That was 18 years ago.

Well let's see, met on June 16th.....talked about getting married 6 weeks later....got married on Sept. 16th (same year). I would be in shock if my kids wanted to do that, but we will be married 25 years this September so I guess it worked. And most people won't believe this, but we have never had a big fight! (only mild bickering, mostly mine!) :kiss

Dated almost 5 years, after we finally decided to get married, we set the date within 24 hours. Got married 4 months later. I guess we felt we had waited long enough.

    Congrats on the engagement!

My hubby and I were dating for about 2 years when he proposed and I accepted. We set the date for about a year later, but that was because our families lived across the country from us and we wanted to make arrangements for everyone to be there.

My wife and I were dating for about 1 year 2 months before getting married. She proposed to me! I accepted, of course!

The proposal was about 5 or 6 months before the actual wedding. She had to get the divorce finalized from her first marriage first. . . . First things first! :chuckle

Congrats on your engagement! :hatparty: Enjoy the planning. It can be almost as fun as the actual ceremony!
