    You have to use photo editing software to do this.

    I too was having problems shrinking the pictures because I don't even know how. If anyone knows of a better way than the exploration that I did, I'm all open ears...

    This is the step I went to edit a picture;
    Save a picture on your computer, go to your avatar settings..... and click on browse to find your picture on your computer....When you find the picture, highlight it by clicking the picture than click the right side of your mouse, than click on "edit." Than click on "Image" Than click on "Attributes." Than type the number size of pixel...I think the limit is 100 X 100 pixel.....than close it, it will then ask comfirmation on your changes.....If I were you I make a copy of that picture or remember where you get it because the only problem I have is, if the picture is too large, than I shrink it, I don't get the entire picture, just a portion......Im still learning on how I can fix that........If anyone know how to fix that, let me know....

    It's not really "shrinking" the picture that you want it's "compressing" the photo.
    Go to your picture and view it.
    Hit "file" on the upper left corner
    Scroll until you see compression. preferably you would want "sequential compression"
    Choose a new name for your picture.
    Choose "JPG" as the type of photo to save
    Compress it at least 90%
    After it's done and you saved it (to desktop) right click the icon and check the properties. It should be under 100k to make transfering and uploading quick and easy.
    Hope this helps.

    i actualy use my card making software... open any blank card, import graphic, use browse to find your picture, then click ok, and then use the sizing tools to make it small as you want, then while picture is highlighted i use edit copy. now it will be on your clip board... go to your paint program and paste it, shrink the paper around it and save as a jpeg. that always works for me... and that is how i got my avitar.
