How do you feel about human cloning?

  1. When I think about cloning a human, I am filled with many uneasy feelings. Yes, one could say that this could provide wonderful possibilites in the medical world, BUT just what if a total freak is created? Then what? Do we kill it, who decides? What if this creation is not only horrible to visualize but what if they have traits of aggressive criminal desires? Then what do we do, lock it up? Where do we draw the line at how far we will go? Are we playing God by trying to create life, just because we can do it, should we? I read an article the other day about a cat that was cloned. It was nothing like the cat it was cloned from. So, for what purpose are we attempting to do this? Are we so vain that we want another "ME"? Loosing one that we love is painful, should we try to change the law of nature, when it is already proven cloning does not give you an exact duplicate? I would be interested in knowing how you feel. I personally feel it is wrong. We don't need more animals, there are millions already begging for love. Do we need more people, that is questionable, as many children are born daily that need good homes and parents to love them. Why should we not just care for what we already have instead of making more and then figuring out what to do with those, that did not come out as planned? Why not just figure out how to "FIX" what already ails us and take care of what we have? What do you think? Duckie

It's wrong. There have been other threads about this topic, and have been many that are for it. I can see their point, for instance those who cant have their "own" children for whatever reason, but I think it is very much like playing God, and not good. I am NOT for it at all.

We havent got all the answers yet so why create more questions? I just think that cloning will give us way more than we bargain for. Not good IMHO.

That would definitely drive my husband to the brink, another me! Nope, I'm against it. Sure, I haven't had any luck in the baby making department...yet...but there's no way I'll mess with Mother Nature!

I guess my great fear is "horror movie material", where creation runs amuke, lives are destoyed, I fear that then murder would be approved to rid us of the "bad seeds" we have created. Maybe I think too much. I'm all for doing anything to cure diseases, to help us live a life of more quality but I am so frightened that a little power gives to much control and whether people personally believe that God is the creator or not, are we saying we can do better than has already been done? Yes, precious babies are born into imperfection through disabilities and deformaties, let us find ways to correst those. And what about this so called "EVE", and now 3 more are supposedly on their way, but where is the proof. I see claims, but no proof, just time taking hoaxes, that set about legal battles to protect a life that no one can confirm even exits. What about all the precious children living daily in filth, starving, being abused, wouldn't time be better spent defending their rights? I guess it is obvious that this a a subject that bothers me. I'm not narrow minded, I believe in advancing the human race to be the best that it can be, but I also believe we must draw the line at where we are willing to go, what we are willing to do, who we are willing to hurt and sacrifice to acheive the ultimate discovery.

Human cloning? Talk about an ethical dilemma? Keep it! We don't need anymore of what we already have...It's a mess out there!

There is absolutely NO logical reason for cloning living creatures. I think that it's wrong wrong wrong. There are so many ways to become a parent these days. ie adoption, fertility treatments and the good old fashioned way.

It's just a bad idea...let's make carbon copies of people like Hiter, Saddam, Himmler, Osama, et al. And I really have no patience for people who are so self indulgent that they want a "designer baby" (and one Heather really is enough for the history of mankind).
