What do you mean "wake up" in the morning?

Okay, I drink a LOT of coffee in the AM. This is mostly out of habit.

The best thing I have found is to prepare myself the night before. It's an exercise in creating my own reality. First, go to bed at a decent time. Then I tell myself I will get restlful sleep and I will wake up feeling energized and ready to get at it. Lay down & clear your mind, don't even *try* to make yourself actually go to sleep, just clear your mind. In fact, something that works for me is to try to force consciousness as long as possible, pretty soon I'm engulfed in sleep b4 I know it.

Sounds kooky, I know, but works for me...

    Roy,

To wake up means to acquire conciousness in order to function a daily routine. Everyone gets their gear on differently.
Just wondering what you do to be your best? sometimes it takes outside help........................What works for you? HB

My first official "wake-up, already" is a shower. Even if I go downstairs, get online, drink coffee, eat, I'm not launched w/o the water running over my head!

THEN I can make the bed, get dressed, etc.

And visiting this site as a drink that cup of tea in the morning.

It kinda my newpaper-and-coffee moment of the morning.

Considering that I get up at 0300, it takes a GOOD cup of coffee first thing. I set it the night before, and drink it as I get ready for work. Have another in my car mug which I sip on the way.
But I'm a major "morning person" anyway, so I'm all rarin' to go either way.

Not good at drinking any past 4 pm as I go to bed around 7:30 pm.
Never USED to bother me at night, but the past seevral years I've noticed it tends to keep me from falling asleep if I drink any too close to bedtime.

    I know. I was just being a smarty-pants

I don't "wake up" because I don't sleep much anyhow.

But a shower usually kicks me right awake. Short of that, if I brush my teeth and then wash my face, it's kinda hard to feel sleepy after that.

    I don't drink coffee.

Well I kind of struggled w/ the waking up part to tell you th' truth! I didn't know if she meant actually waking up, like w/ an alarm clock or just spontaneously.

I found this question on www.crazythoughts.com : Do you wake up or open your eyes first?

I despise coffee unless it's one of those super-flavored starbucks blends but they are sorta outside "living within my means"! So I opt for a couple gallons of gas and a mountain dew instead!!!!!

Gotta agree with those who have to have a shower. I am a zombie without it.

I wake up first... kinda like I realise I'm awake before I open my eyes
