How did you meet the Love of your life?

  1. I've just thought of this thread after reading about Aus and her Bloke.

I've only got 5 minutes before I have to go and get ready for work, though, so here goes:

I met my Hubby in 1974 at my sisters' home; she was having a Taco and Tequila party for her veteran's club members at the U of Mn. (She was the only female vet. at the time). My Cousin (who lived with me) got on the same bus home from the U and managed to talk my Sis into letting us 2 young attractive females into coming over to eat (we didn't cook and Sis was a great cook) and that we'd leave as soon as we finished eating. Of course it didn't end that way....... Now it's your turn-- I'll tell you more tomorrow!!!

I met Eric while I was in my second year of college the first time around in 1999. I was being forced to go to the dance they were having at the student union by my roomate. Eric was also being forced to go by his roomate a friend of mine who was supposed to hook up with me that night but he ditched me So Eric asked me if I wanted to dance and that was the beginning of one wild ride. I still had a boyfriend back in my home town :imbar But he was cool with that. I broke it off with the guy back home after I realized Eric was a keeper.Plus the guy back home was abusive and Eric made me see how women should be treated. Our first kiss was like a fireworks celebration I knew we would be together forever. We have been married for a little over 2 years now and have known eachother for 3, we kind of rushed into things but I don't regret it a bit.

My hubby and I met in 1987 at a church camp. We were both on the counseling staff. Just wrote back and forth after we got home (our homes were 300 miles apart ), but the next year things really happened quickly. We were married in Jan 1989. Some people were really concerned about us not knowing each other for very long, but we both knew it was right. Heck, I have known several couples that dated for years (and I do mean YEARS), got married and ended up divorced several years later. I don't think you can judge how a marriage will work out based on the fact of how long a couple has been together. My hubby and I dated and were engaged for a total of 6 months before our wedding day. We are looking forward to our 14th anniversary in January. :kiss

We met in 1984. I was working as a dietary aid for a nursing home. She came down to the kitchen and spoke to me about hiring me as an accompaniest for her cabaret act.

I was referred to her by her mother who was a LPN working at this nursing home.

My wife was married to another man at the time. (My mother-in-law hated her then son-in-law, I found out later!)

    So . . . . I was her hired piano accompaniest. . .

    and have been ever since!

    Nice thread!

Dennis and I had met back in our teen years at a party. We talked until all hours of the night....
We lost track of each other soon afterward....
Then, when I moved to Indiana, I started working in a factory here, made some friends, and lo and behold, I was working with Dennis' cousin! He brought some videos over with his cousin one night (I didn't have cable yet, so I was borrowing something to watch), and has never left again!
We got married less than a month later and although it's been a bumpy ride somethimes, I know he's a he** of a man, and I love him dearly....won't let him go again.....nope, I won't!

I met Michelle through a friend of mine at work (I was working at a seedy motel at the time :chuckle ), and she was hooked.
Sent me flowers with stuffed giraffes in them (giraffes are my favorite), made me a heart shaped pizza, called me every day.... eventually I got tired of her being a pest and went out with her.
We moved in together a month later, and that was 5 years ago.

    ok....was having a dry spell...on a whim , i had placed an online personal ad...actually 2, in different forums....
went on dates with 2 guys, both losers..well, not my type i should say...( i had safety nets setup each time, don't worry....)
anyway, one of the ads that i did was through yahoo, so you would get notification if you had new replies in your personal mailbox, every time you signed onto yahoo messenger...
i had exchanged replies with this one guy, and traded screen names...so we chatted from time to time....

i was over at a platonic male friend's house one friday...we were going out to the neighborhood bar to shoot pool, but he was on the phone with his girlfiend in his bedroom, so i logged onto yahoo to kill some time...my-not-yet-honey was online, so we were chattin'.....then my friend came out when he was off the phone, asked who it was, asked to see his profile, which had a picture...
friend was like" hey! i work with him...he's a decent guy..he's safe for you to go out on a date with.." so we went out....
    {oh shoot...just looked at the clock....this story will hafta be continued after work...}
