Are you serious? I am both female and a nurse-I really thought it was true. It's amazing how we will "buy" outrageous BS!

Hmmmm...and what test will be performed on the men who wish to become nurses there to ensure they are still virgins??? :chuckle

This is soooooo ridiculous! USA Nurses may be fighting for many things, but their right NOT to be physically inspected for virginity will never be one of those things we fight for. Our country ROCKS!!! :kiss

Yes, true!, l learned it in a nursing forensics class....baby girl hymens are estrogenized at birth due to mom's hormones....wears off in a few years, then it has a smoother appearance until menarche......actually the hymen is like a ponytail scrunchy a rim AROUND the inner vaginal opening...it is not like a piece of celophane closing off the opening....an imperferate hymen is extreemly rare and a critical emergency at menarche if not treated quickly......Stupid old male MD's performng all those exams and telling pple they can tell if virgin or no, were lying male chovenistic (sp) SOB's...this always makes me think of the royal families and how the females were subjected to these gyn exams to see if they were ''good enough'' to marry these royal azzholes....what a joke.... ....LR

Have mercy!! Does the country of Turkey not have any bigger problems to deal with than this.

And amen, cheerfuldoer -- lets devise a test to determine whether or not men are virgins!!!

Umm...until ya'll can figure out which test you're gonna give me, you'll just have to take my word that I'm a virgin. Why? Because I'm a male, we make the rules, we can, and that's just the way it is...

Did you know that many Turkish males walk around in shoes with the backs of their shoes bent/pressed down, so that you can slide your feet into shoes like shower shoes? This is so that Atta Turk(SP), founder of modern Turkey and is believed will reincarnate in the form of a cat, will notify the world of his return by scratching a person on his exposed heel.

Been to Turkey many times. Never felt like I was "missing anything" there and was glad I normally spent a maximum of 24 hours on the ground there before departing. The dollar goes far; pistachios and brass items used to be a great deal; the Romans left behind a lot of great ruins to investigate; and the food is delicious. Outside of that, the country was and still is a third world country.

Well, you must be an absolut specialist on Turkey, Ex130load.
Being on turkish ground for 24 hours a few times.
Turkey is definetly NOT a 3. world country, they have a different way of life, cultural and traditional way of living with each other and of course the religion plays a big part in their lives too.

And of course they want their girls to be virgins, a very important item, otherwise the girls won't get a husband and even worse they will be kicked out of their families.
Hard for us "westeners" to understand, but that's the way it is.

What I don't understand about the hymen always being intact, why is it, we operate on young (mostly students from arab or moslemic countries) girls and make a "hymen-plastic?"
This happens at least once a week here, the girls come to the hospital are operated on and go home after a few hours and can fly home again, without fear for their mothers, grandmothers and of course the men in their family.

I that article serious? Tomorrow I am going to ask one of my 15(!) turkish students about this!!
    Take care, Renee
