Hey, who started this thread?

  1. I've always enjoy reading the message board on allnurses. But I must say the very first time I logged on I read nursing topics and it really got me riled up.I read so much anger and frustration that it took me almost 4 hours to get to sleep that night. And yeah I've made some abrasive replies to certain subjects and have gotten clobbered. *sigh!!* But my point of this whole post is to thank whoever for starting this non-nursing thread! I log on everyday and just love reading all the different post topics. My guess is that alot of other nurses would agree considering all the same usernames I come across. I also logged on when there was only 5 topics, now there is over 30! So thank you inventive person for this thread. Lets keep it alive and strong!

Actually it was cen35...Rick, I think his name is. He asked everyone to tell him what their real mane was and where they worked and a little about themselves. It just grew from there. Then the moderator,B. Short?, made this off topic section. I think its great too. By the way my name is Colleen. I'm an LPN and I live in NY state. Nice to meet you. Bye...see you on the boards.

    Hey neonnurse!!!

How do you like Vegas?!!! I lived there for 2 years (93-95) and loved it. It has grown so much since then. Hate to say it but I kind of got tired of all the tourist. I think 2 years was enough for me. I still have family out there so I still visit from time to time!!!

Well, yeah I asked a few people that I have seen regularly to tell me a little about themselves, instead of all the bashing (which I hate). I did it in the General topic and Brian Short moved it too here, and started the off topic d/t the responses I got (under the thread Wild, HollyKate, Susy K, Level II, etc etc)...and I was amzed at the responses. I was expecting responses like, what a stupid idea.

I am glad it turned out so well, at least I know one thing I did went right lately

    Hey CC Nurse!
Theres tourist here???? Oh Yeah! They go to that place with all the big buildings...I think its called the stretch or strip or something!! I hated Vegas when I first got here. To me the place is cheesey as hell, I hated walking into a 7-11 or some grocery store and seeing people playing video poker and smoking...losers. However, I've got to admit that no place else has anything on Vegas when it comes to casino/resorts. Its definately a world premire destination. I also love all the amenities it has to offer: hiking, and camping, skiing, watersports. My fiancee and I are having a house built in snooty Summerlin, I love that place. Where did you work? Were they crying for nurses then? I started off first with Valley and made a quick exit after only 2 weeks..long story. Now I'm working at Mountainview L&D nights and want out so bad. So I'm currently waiting for a call back from Healthsouth for a case mangement position.

Nice to meet you too Colleen. What part of NY are you from? I live in West Point(y'know United States Military Academy) for 3 years and went to OCCC in Middletown, then completed school in St.Louis MO.

Hello Neonurse...I live in upstate NY...about 10 miles from Lake Ontario. North of Syracuse. Sorry it took me so long to answer. Last night I stayed way too long in the new chatroom...what fun it was, lots of laughs. Tonight the chat room won't work for me...internet conductivity problems my screen says. West Point is way downstate from me. Nice to meet you. Maybe some night we will chat in the new chatroom. Bye

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Just worked 3 killer 12 hrs shifts in a row and did nothing but sleep and work!!!

I was not a nurse when I lived out there. I worked for B of A (in the big tower in town)We invested money for the unions. I worked with the stock market then. Guess that's why I hated the tourist so bad, had to deal with them everyday!!!!!

I know where Summerlin is. My in-laws live there. My mother in-law is a teacher at the Meadows. Very nice area. congradulations on your house!!!!

As far as the nurse situation, yeah, i think they needed nurses then too. How is the pay there? Kind of thought about looking into it but don't think I would make a permanent move. I know they are paying BIG Bucks for CA nurses. my husband keeps trying to talk me into traveling but i'm still at the deciding stage!!!

Hi CC, NV is a right to work state, whatever that means. I don't think the salaries are all that great unless you go to UMC which is union. LV is starting to grow on me, I think I'm gonna like it here. I'm still lokking for a non hospital job, wish me luck!
