I doubt if this is much help but if it were me doing the presentation this is what i would go with. . .

Lots of hands-on things like different instruments and such that nurses deal with on a daily basis and maybe even a few that we don't exactly use every day that may be interesting. A very visual presentation with plenty of comic strips geared toward the nursing profession and such.

I don't think any 10 year old wants to sit and be lectured to, so make it fun.

I know, not much help but there is my two cents.

Here's a site where you can make your own word search:

And here's a powerpoint presentation for elementary school kids

Here's an overview of a presentation done at a school:

Maybe some of those will help you!

I was thinking if you brought a steth with a lot of wipes you could let them listen to someone's heart beat. Just make sure the steth is good enough to do it OVER clothes so ya don't get the parents all riled up.

The hands on stuff mentioned already is GREAT to do. It would be cool if you had some freebees from your employer like magnets, pencils, etc. I work in ob so I talked about how we took care of the new baby when it arrived and what to expect when visiting the hospital.
Be prepared for lots of questions like "have you ever saved anyone's life?" and in my case "how does the baby get out?"- but that may have been a younger age group.
    Good luck and have fun!!

The idea about the steth is great!! I also found out when working with kids, is they think it's "cool" the way the pupil reacts to light.
Another idea may to b have a wheelchair race..(space permitting ..of course..and teachers permission..) one more idea... maybe make up a small first aid kit with a few bandaids, medical wipes ,and a pair of gloves....

    hope this helps!!

The American Heart Association has some great ideas for teaching the age appropriate information to kids about heart health. In the 10 year old age bracket, you cover a lot of the norms. Some of their material, avalable online by doing a search of AHA, may be useful for hands on stuff....

I would think Johnson and Johnson has some information that may be useful for teaching about nursing. Try doing a search of their website.
