I have this problem with my twin nieces. This year I went to Wal Mart and in the toy section there's toys that come in boxes for about $10 each. They have a princess outfit, those cheap plastic shoes, toolbelt with drills, screwdrivers, etc, a tea set, etc. I know they come in red boxes. Since they're both girls it's easy - they end up playing with each other's toys.

I'd buy them whatever they are interested in.

My son loves dinosaurs. When my daughter was that age she loved horses.

Don't treat them like twins. They are individuals. (Not sure you are doing this at all but there are twins I know who hated being treated like "THE TWINS").

I agree with STEPH. They may be twins, but they are still individual personalities with their own likes and dislikes. The good thing is one is a boy, and one is a girl, so buying a gift for them at their age shouldn't be too challenging if you keep it in that perspective. :Santa1:

Why do you have to get them something similar? It seems like 3 year old girls and boys like different types of things. And I wouldn't spend a lot of money either, because it also seems like kids at that age like basic, simple things ..... something basic and simple that keeps them entertained (legos, puzzles, books, dolls, cars, playdoh, etc)

I think twins are like any other brothers and sisters -- especially at that age, when they are that close together, you have to get them something pretty similar because they always seem to want what the other has! Best of luck

thanks for the responses I ended up getting them each a doodle art. Hers was a dora the explorer doodle mat called aquadoodle. His was a doodle art with dinasaurs that glow when done. Both were a great hit. the kids did not want to open the other gifts
