Help me decide which SUV

  1. Ok, I need help in deciding which SUV to get. Now keep in mind I DEFINITELY can not afford anything OVER $22,000.

Here are my picks so far:

1)Honda CRV- I know they have an awesome safety rating but they are about $20,000 so I am a little concerned about the payments.

2)Saturn VUE-They have a pretty nice safety rating too. Not as nice as the Honda CRV though. Plus I will be able to get a nice size discount considering my dad works for GM PLUS they have a small $750 discount for college grads. Hey every little bit helps.

3)Ford Escape- I test drove one the other day and I really like the feel of it and the price it is not too bad. However the thing that is really detering me is the fact that the escape received a marginal safety rating.

Now what do you think of the above and can anyone think of anything else besides Kia. My dad said not to go with Kia. They are not good and plus the resale value for them are not too hot.

    Why an SUV? Just wondering!

Because, I just really like them and I am debating about a car too. I guess I just wanted to fall for the hype and try one out. I never had one before. I could end up hating SUV's or could be one that once you go SUV you never turn back.

The cars I am looking into are:

    1)Nissian Altima
    2)Saturn L300
    3)Toyota Corolla
    4)Honda Accord

Go with the CRV. They are cute. I think Hondas hold their value pretty well too.

    SUV = Sport Utility Vehicle

Good luck, go w/price and how the vehicle feels to you (safety), and gas mileage (depending on how far you'll routinely be driving) and does it have enuf room for what you'll be using it for?

I love it when we get to go car shopping on this bb. I get to live vicariously in sport cars, suvs and all kinds of other cars. I would vote for the saturn. They are pretty good cars and I am always in favor of saving as much $$ as you can. Those payments just seem to go on and on.

I considered the VUE before I bought my Saturn ION recently. I thought they were great, but just couldn't justify the additional $6000, when I didn't really need an SUV.

If I had my heart set on an SUV, I'd definitely go with the VUE.

Have you compared insurance costs for the different SUV's?

If you haven't already, check out Consumer Reports before you buy.

I just got a Saturn ION about a month ago and I LOVE it. This is my second Saturn and they've made a lot of improvements. If you're not driving through the northern tundra, than ditch the SUV idea. There's no reason to get that sort of car. Plus, they use a LOT of gas. Go with the cheaper, more environmentally responsible choice!

I have to say I agree with that. I think SUV's give a false sense of security to some people.

I would always go with a Honda, I've had two and have never had a problem with them, I love them! They are SOOO good on gas, insurance, and resale value.

I would go with either the Nissan Altima or Honda CRV.

I love my SUV and will never own anything else.... I have a Nissan Xterra and it doesn't use any more gas than the car I had before did... I'm not a Ford person, so out of the 3 you have on the list I would have to go with the Honda... Only b/c they generally have a good resale value

Honda Accord! SUV's are just too consumptive for my blood.
