Help! I look like I'm on drugs!

  1. I'm sure that many of you can relate to my problem, especially the nurses who work 3rd shift. I have a really weird schedule, and I'm sure it's mostly from not getting enough sleep, but there's nothing I can do to change that at the moment. I have always been told that I have the prettiest eyes, but lately, everyone asks me if I feel bad, or if I'm sick! I constantly have dark circles under my eyes and am getting wrinkles and bags underneath! I'm only 30, and I look older! Anyone have any ideas or advice on how to get rid of dark circles and prevent more wrinkles? Are there any miracle creams out there to tighten this saggy face of mine up? I look like I've been drunk for a week, and I don't even drink!!!!!!!

I don't know what to tell ya. I think some people's bodies just don't adjust to working nights, I know mine never did. I looked terrible, felt terrible, got sick all the time, and nodded off very easily.

I don't knock it because I know there are poeple for whom nights are wonderful... it just aint me

Hope some of the night owls here can give you some good advice!

I felt the same way until I started working days. It took at least 3 months for me to recover from 3 years on nights. Although I know some nurses who adjust to and thrive on 3rd shift.

I never adjusted to working nights, and gave it up after a year. I had bad reflux, headaches, short term memory loss and lost a LOT of weight.

Now I work 7:30 to 4 and it suits me much better. I agree...some people just aren't cut out for that shift!

try a collogen and elastin cream for all over tone and healthy glow. This sound terrible, but it really works, for bags under your eyes, preperation H. Just don't get it in your eyes, apply a small amount on the bags. A liquid foundation one to two shades under your skin tone under your normal foundation will mask dark circles.
Also cucumber is great for the skin, and have been used for years to aid in retaining youthful and rested appearance. Just put a slice over each eye.

I've been using a Facial cleanser by Dove, which is an excellent moisturizer, then a no name brand firming lotion, but they don't seem to help my desperate skin.

Peter- Preparation H? What does that do, or are you just pulling my leg? I have never heard of such!! Does it really do something, or are you sitting there chuckling to yourself wondering if I'm dumb enough to try it?!!!! Well guess what, I am. Think I'll buy a brand new tube all for myself instead of using hubby's though!

    Thank you for the advice!

yes... preparation-H works really well!!! i've also heard cortaid works too. anything with a little amont of steroid helps bring down the swelling. for dark circles, i bought l'oreal dark circle eraser. it's really nice, makes your eye area smoother, and does lighten up the darkness. you have to use it consistently for about a month to see the results. but it works for me!!

I'm still laughing about the Preparation H- But I'm going to try it anyway. Anything has to be better than looking like a zombie. Thank you Becky, I'm also going to try the Loreal' , maybe I'll actually look human within the next month!
