    Well seeing as I have had one of the most stressful months of my life.....to top it off, my son came home w/LICE yesterday (ugh) I say I have to de-stress to stay sane. HOW? Warm scented bubble baths with candles and a good book are about all I can afford these days. The escape does me tons of good. That or a good walk outide or a workout at the gym. These help me a lot.

    hmm... to de stress? you mean people can survive without inhumane levels of stress pervading their lives?

    seriously though...
    I medititate... Basically, I follow a guided meditiation I've been doing for ages.... if you want it, PM me, and I'll fork it over

    I use this BB to help de-stress after work. I also get down on the floor and frolic with my two dogs, that works off any energy I have OR I attack hubby for a little game of couch hockey, works like a charm!!!

    If I recall, I found my favourite relaxation method here on Allnurses. It goes something like;
    Sit back in a quiet, warm, darkened room, and visualise a cool mountain stream babbling down the hillside. You are calm, and relaxed, as you hear the chatter of birds nearby, and smell the earthy scents released by the abundant flowers after a brief cleansing shower of rain. The crystal stream is so clear, you can look down into it and see the little fishes, swimming in front of the face of the person you are holding down there..............
    works for me!

    Usually sleeping or veggin out in front of a good movie or TV and not doing a DARN thing. Or, my husband and I tend to visit this Mexican place near our house, have a drink and some guac and chips and just discuss things that bother us, related to our jobs or family situations, and offer support and advice to each other.

    Otherwise, a nice bath with a good bottle of wine will do it too.

    The bathtub and book thing work terrifically well for me. Also, the ride home is great, because I am climbing all the way. The higher I get into the mountains, the more my concerns seem to fall away...

    Shopping helps, of course you need to stop for a margarita or two. Massage from hubby and anything else that pops up also is a great stress reliever!

    Getting my hair cut or colored always relaxes me. That or a manicure. The reason I find it works is that if I stay home there are too many distractions, but at the salon I just relax and catch up on some mindless gossip...

    I have used a tehnique similar to don's many a time as well....

    A pedicure's even better. Go for the Double-Throw Smackdown Luxury Exfoliating pedicure. They put you in a huge massage chair where you can read and sip your latte' while your tootsies soak in the whirlpool bath. They use a peppermint pumice scrub on your feet and legs, then rinse it off and put a cooling eucalyptus mask on them. After they rinse that off, they cream and moisturize your feet and legs, then they start on the actual pedicure.

    If you REALLY want to pamper yourself, get the paraffin treatment too. They dip your feet in hot wax and wrap them in warm towels for 10 minutes, then peel it off. Your feet are like buttah!

    For me, just a good day of vegging out will pep me back up. All day I eat nothing of nutritional value, watch movies, visit here frequently, never get out of my pj's, etc.

    That or a little nookie
