hello there, may I join you?

  1. Hi all, I've been around the forums for a while and decided to upgrade to premium member.

I'm a 45 yr old mom to three teens, wife to one and mum to a greyhound (Oscar). I work mainly as a medical writer and editor but I also work as an RN for 6 or 7 shifts per pay in a palliative care residence.

I choose to work nights because it allows me to work on my freelance stuff. I was only working at the res one weekend out of two because I had a full time writing/editing day job, but I was laid off in October so I'm going back to freelance. Once the work has picked up, I hope to cut back on my shifts again.

I have an extremely varied background, both personally and professionally. I love the holiday season but with my kids getting older (15, 17 and 19), I find it changing quite a bit. Life really does move on as the kids get older.

This is also a bit of a bittersweet time for me. My "baby" brother's birthday would have been yesterday but he took his life in February 2005, so I'm feeling kind of sad today. However, much as life moves as the kids age, life goes on even though JP chose to leave us too soon

And now, back to clearing up my cluttered desk in time for me to fill it again with more clutter.

Welcome, welcome! My two boys are 15 and 17, and yes, life changes when they're teens. I still insist (to them ) there's a Santa, and do you know what? Santa still magically fills their stockings on Christmas Eve!!

My youngest brother died 5 yr ago (has it been that long??) @ age 40. Dx'd with CHF six months before he collapsed and was unable to be revived. I do think about him a lot, and although we lived 400 miles apart, he was still my baby bro. Hugs from me.

Put your feet up and enjoy your time here. And it's NOT addicting being here , really, truly . . honest. Trust me.
