    Hi-dee-ho, Ted; I hope you were shakin' that finger while you were carryin' on up there, cause it goes along with the song, y'know.

    I used 1920s Cab Callaway, the "Hi Di Ho Man".
    He sometimes did it on TV through the 1980s.

    Esther Jones was in his show. She was the inspiration for Betty Boop!

    An interesting story.

    herring, loved this one, too!
    The moment I laid eyes on Esther Jones, before I ever read any of the text, I thought..."Oh! That's the real Betty Boop!"

    Appreciated the Wikipedia reference as well. It's amazing, all the things that led up to a cultural icon, that we never even imagined!

    Also got a great name from it, for my collection of names: Grim Natwick!
    {I have no idea what on earth I can do with a Rubber Maid tub chock FULL of pages and pages of names which have amazed, horrified, and kept me amused all these years...since 1968... yet I keep writing them down! It keeps me busy and out of trouble, anyway!}

    Once when I was in college, I made a message for my answering machine that
    went like this..

    "Hel-lo Bayyy-Beh!!!"

    "Hello! Is it me you're looking for?"

    "Hello Darlin'. Nice to see you..."

    "Hello! Hello Again" (song by The Cars)

    And then me saying, "Hello! I'm not here right now, please leave
    a message!"

    I got a lot of complements on it, LOL.
