heatwave!!!!!!!

  1. I know no-one will be jealous ('specially those like Tweety who live in florida!) but we are in the middle of a heat wave here! last time this happened was 1976! the temp today has been 30 C, no rain for about 6wks! so this green and pleasant land is looking decidedly brown and dried out!! But I am not complaining (well maybe at night cos cant sleep!) instead I am going to work on getting a tan!!

    Karen,
I'm absolutely sick of our heat wave. We are having the worst drought in the kansas city area, on record. They started keeping track of temps and rain amounts around 1890-1900. So I is very hot and nasty here. I too can't sleep at night and my air conditioner runs day and night. Poor thing can't keep the temp down low enough. I have ceiling fans on the babies, and put them to bed in their undies to stay cool. All I can say is that the fire that hit our house was a blessing. That is the only reason we are surving now. They decided to give us central air when rebuilding because it was cheaper to get the furnace with a/c. So I can really sympathize with you!

Hang in there and not too much suntan.

I talk to my sister nearly everyday and
    she is fading fast.(Cambridgeshire)

Is this the tail end of the European heatwave? I understand there have been several deaths.
    Do take care.

Yeh... it's pretty bad over there. They are so NOT used to a heatwave !!! :stone 107 degrees in Paris !!! Over 100 in Frankfurt and in the 90's in London ... heck, the 70's is plenty HOT for GB !!!

My poor Mom.. went back to Germany/Austria again this summer, as she does every year to get away from the Az. heat in the worst part of the year.

I can hear her now..." just SINK ! Dis HEAT, it FOLLOWS me all da vey to Germany dis ye-a.. you sink I can get away from dis? No, even he-a is so hot like by da sick monkeys !"

Shouldn't laugh, poor thing,.. now she's gotta come back and face some more of it when she gets home to Az.

    hi Jnette
yes - we are so not used to heat! the trains are running slowly with speed restrictions because they are worried the tracks will buckle, people are fainting or worse on the underground cos the temp is so high- no ac! only good thing is no water restrictions- yet! the temp in my house did not drop below 80 F last night! ok- give me back the rain!

LOL, we've been 30 since May, and will stay that way until November.

But I'm just the opposite, as soon as it drops below 21 C (70F) I start freezing to death.

Hope it rains and you find relief soon. It's been raining plenty here the last few days.

    3rdshift guy,
freezing at 70????? Heck, I ready to fill up the kiddy pool. Temp is relative to where you are. When it hits 75 the ac goes on. 80 degrees just leave me alone, don't look at me, speak to me, or expect me to move at a pace above a crawl. On the flip side, give me the cool weather..
60 is perfect, shorts and tee shirt weather, 50 I may put on pants, 40 degrees pants and long sleeves, heck, may even put on the heat. 30 degrees, I might put on a coat to go out if its snowing. Will tell the kids to stop sleeping in the buff and put on pj's.
25 degrees coat possibly gloves, will think about putting a blanket on the bed.
10 below coat, gloves, and might close the bedroom window. I'll put on a second blanket on the bed first. You know, don't want to get over heated.
15-20 below lets go skating, sledding, sticking our tongues to the metal pole.
20 below plus might put on long johns if I remember where we put them six years ago...

Thought you might like a poke at our weather.

    I have seasonal depression...
Too many hot sunny days makes me grumpy!
    I love fall and winter!
I'll take a rainy cloudy day anytime over the sunshine!
It is much easier to get warm then it is to get cool!
I just don't want to drive too far in the snow and Ice is the only thing Oh and I don't want to fall on my... and make a fool out of myself or break something! (I'm getting old...)
    Hmmmmm
maybe florida's not a bad idea after all?
