HawthoRNe...What Do You All Think?

  1. I gave it three shots and now, I have had it. Here are my beefs:

    1. Creating a sort of hospice bed out of a storage room
    2. Daughter walking throughout the facility taking pictures with her cell phone (and mother says NOTHING when she sees this at the end of the day...she seems more touched than outraged).
    3. Nurses initially informing patients of their diagnosis
    4. ALL nurses initiating emergency steps like there is no physician around (I mean, I have not seen it, maybe you all have?)
    5. CNO punches another nurse in the face when a psych patient had him by the neck
    6. I can go on and on, but this show seems beyond silly to me.

What do you all think? Maybe it is me...I have the issue, but this is too exaggerated for me. Superwoman CNO who is involved in morning rounds, initiating treatment in the emergency rooms, part social worker, no boundaries. While I know I would LOVE a CNO like this, this is NOT REAL to me.

same here... gave it 3 shots.
    I will not watch again.
Poor acting, poor story line, unrealistic, and boring.
I do however think my grandmother would have loved it. lol.
There might be an audience for it. I just won't be one of them.

Uh not to bust anyones bubble but it is a fictitious show..it is called entertainment. Anyone with a brain knows we dont behave this way at work. There are shows about doctors sleeping with nurses and patients and there are shows about lots of careers. Dont take it personallyt..It is just like I said entertainment...I like the show myself...it gives me a break from the seriousness of my job....

    I couldn't do it either.
I wasn't expecting much from it anyway because the previews looked dumb.
Found myself instantly having dislike for the main character.
    Not good.
    Thumbs down.

I still like it. Not as good as Greys Anatomy. Its definetly not realistic, just kinda light drama. If I had to rate it, I would give it a 5. I will continue to watch. Maybe it will get better.

Hygiene Queen - I have to agree with you. I have enjoyed Will Smith in almost everything I have seen, but didn't know much about his wife. I've given the show more than one opportunity, and I won't be wasting another evening on it.

As an ER/Trauma nurse, I enjoy Nurse Jackie because it more just for "shock value" or entertainment, and I always love Discovery Health or TLC watching "Trauma - Life in the ER". I just couldn't connect with Jada Smith in Hawthorne, and just felt like there was something better at that time, just channel surfed.

Won't try it again, IA'll just stick with the others I mentioned above.

That was the thing for me, I can't connect with the characters, or show in general. I do know that televison for the most part is entertainment, but, there are many shows that have more of a focus for me. This seems to be disjointed, like they threw things in a hat, shook it up and whatever was grabbed was added to an episode.

no i didn't like it, they must not have any RN script writers... not good at all

I enjoy it. But, I too was saying "NO FREAKIN WAY!" when the daughter was waliking around snapping pictures.

Yeah there were some "fluff" and unrealistic parts in it for me too...but I watch it for the entertainment...I'm not a nurse yet but I can see how it would make some nurses roll their eyes.

There was some a scene w/very unrealistic picture snapping of an anal injury going on on Nurse Jackie too. Just to be a nit picker, on H-Rn I found the nurse giving an injection and then casually recapping used syringe to be pretty out of it. Just a detail, but why not stick with reality on the easy details...

I actually prefer Nurse Jackie - love Edie Falco - and think its a very dark comedy, much like Dexter, not intended to advocate for the twisted morals of the main character, but with some thought provoking story lines nevertheless. Would I falsify an organ donor card? NEVER! But I can watch a show where someone does it and know the difference between fictional entertainment and professional reality. I also totally respect the feelings of others who find the show offensive!

I'm through watching after last night. I kept waiting for it to get better. I could have dealt with how INCREDIBLY unrealistic the show is if only it weren't so BORING on top of that. My own real life shifts are more interesting than "Hawthorne," which is sad because I watch tv to escape from the humdrum of my own life. And I wouldn't be able to stomach another episode of that incompetent, stupid male nurse mooning around after the hot blonde nurse. So lame.
