Having surgery Fri. ughhh

  1. I'm having back surgery Fri. to remove a intradural synovial cyst between L4 L5 that is hugging my spinal cord and compressing the nerves in my right leg. Hence why I've been limping for 6 months. Anyone ever here of this or taken care of anyone that had it done? I really don't know what to expect. I'm not looking forward to being a patient.
Anyway won't be on the board for a while after Fri. I guess until I can once again plop my rear end in front of my computer.
Will be off work for 6 weeks. The only good thing is I will be off for the playoffs and hope to watch the Steelers win the Super Bowl!!!

ok Lynne, hope everything works out well for you and you'll be able to move without pain.
No idea about the operation though, I worked neurosurgical ward for a year, but never had a patient with something like you have.
Take care, stay cool and remember: we (I) think of you!! Renee

I will keep you in my prayers. It is always scary to be a pt. I can tell you on my trip to the ER for my kidney stone, I got top notch care. Absolutely no problem. Nurses will take care of each other. I will take care of you in spirit. Be sure you get a sleeper the night before.

Thanks, you guys are great. I'll be back on as soon as I can sit. Unfortunately no one has donated a lap top but it's a great idea. Hope to talk to you all soon and thanks again for your kind thoughts and prayers.

    Hello Kaycee,

I hope your surgery was a success, and that you are healing without complications. Get plenty of rest, take your pain meds, have someone fluff your pillows, watch lots of funny videos or old Lucy t.v. shows, drink plenty of healthy fluids, take extra vitamin C, and stay stress-free as possible. Let us know how you are doing as soon as you are able. Now is the time when you could use a laptop computer, huh? ((((((HUGS))))) TO YOU!!!

Surgery went well. I can't sit, bend, drive or ride in a car, lift or get my dressing wet for 2 weeks. I oughta be pretty ripe by then. I'm sore but ok, bored already. Can't sit at the computer long but thought I'd say hi.
I stayed in the hospital 1 day. Almost had to stay the night in ASU because they had no beds. Finally found one, I didn't care would have rather gone home. I had great care, my CRNA, the nurses in recovery and ASU, the med-surg nurses and the CNA's were all great. And I never told anyone I was a nurse. They found out though but it didn't matter. Anyway glad to be back! Thanks again for all your hugs and best wishes, they really helped!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that everything went well. Now all you have to do is recover, recover, recover. Hope the pain isn't too bad...Take your medicine, and don't try and push yourself...You'll be fine in due time. Rest, grab a good book, some crossword puzzles, of course TV, and anything else you can think of, but take it e-z!

    Hello Kaycee,

So glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are home "bored" already. That's a good sign! Don't rush your recovery. Enjoy the time off, take your pain meds, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of natural rest, and watch a lot of funny t.v. shows while you are recuperating. My husband is going to be having back surgery February 12 (the second time in 7 months). He was immobile for awhile during his first surgery, so he isn't looking forward to being 'down and out' one more time. Be encouraged. My prayers are with you.

    Prayers are with you.
Be careful of to many funny TV shows...laughing can hurt!
I've done it 4 times. I do all of my surfing in a semi-fowlers on the bed with a laptop.
    REMEMBER...pillows are your friend.
