Have you made any...

  1. Crafts lately?

A few weeks ago I made several nursing figurines/characters out of clothepins, felt, pipe cleaners, hot glue, paint for face, hair.. etc..

Wooden clothespins are hard to dress/decorate..lol.

Anyone else have any ideas or crafts in the works?

Whilst l have been off work l have knitted seven scarves, 3 beanies, half way through a multi coloured jumper and a dog coat

My excuse for industry of this type is l havent been at work or able to concetrate a lot for a numer of weeks - have looked at some embroidery but put that away as it takes too much thinking

The knitting is mostly plain stitch

But l think l will get back to some more handicraft this winter.

    Cheers Tookie

Sandra I haven't knitted since I was a young girl, how talented you are !

No not talented - just very little to do recently - been off for weeks from work and knitting is a bit like riding a bike once you pick up the nedles and get going it will come back to you

I knitted all the scarves as easter type gifts - all the young girls ie daughter, neice sons girlfriend etc are wering them
Actually l posted them a while back they are a really easy knit and a beautiful thread called feathers - you end up like a fur feeling about them - there are lots of thread around at the moment.

I used to do counted cross stitch, that was alot of fun. I have crochet (sp) baby blankets years ago, using a shell pattern.

I will look for your scarves on another thread

They turned out pretty good.. the nursing figurine clothepins.. i discovered it's difficult to glue hair on a tiny clothespin head. I also made old fashioned nursing caps out of felt, kind of looked like a scarf. More like a Nun if you ask me..lol

I'm going to make more and I'll post a pic soon.

I wish I knew how to crochet.

Bet those little nurses are cute.

The only crafly thing I do is trash-to-treasure type stuff. Refurbishing old furniture and hand painting. HGTV's website has alot of ideas.

I must have the slowest computer here. I try to post something and 3 people already replied. Either that or I just type too slow!

LOL.. Guess I'm guilty of being a Martha lately..lol.

It took one hour to make 13 nurses but I didn't know what I was doing, not sure if I do now.

I'll make some this weekend and hopefully get the camera out.

nursenoelle, I've stripped old furniture in the past, it's a lot of hard work isn't it? Sanding, varnishing.. but the finished products are so worthwhile.

Can't wait to see them. They sound really cute. What I need to do is get my cross stitch and crocheting back out....relieve a bit of stress.
