Have you ever felt like you've taken your car to a place like this?

  1. I have. It taught me where not to take my car too.

The caption reads, "One mechanic peers under the hood and says, "What's that thingamijig" to the other mechanic. The other mechanic then replies, " I don't rightly know. I don't remember seeing one before." He then asks the first mechanic, "Where do ya think this dohicky goes? Do ya think somebody put it there by mistake?" Then he says, "I'm not so sure we can remedy this one. It's going to be at least a $600 dollar job."

yep. Had a lemon that was like that once. Unfortunately, it was JUST like that.

SOrry about your car, Fran. Here's to hoping you get better mechanics in the future, should you have a need of their services.

My car is okay. I'm mentioning this, because I have had the experience in the past. Because the brakes squeaked when I stepped on the pedal, I thought the caliper might be worn. So I took it to the place where they were installed. Toward the end of my wait, I heard the manager adding up the repair costs? The total estimate came to $703. I thanked them for the free estimate, then I took over to the place where I always got my car inspected. The repair bill came to less than $50.

Does it seem to you that mechanics try to take advantage of women who are alone because they don't think we have enough sense to NOT be cheated?? That's the experience I've had, at least.

I have the best mechanic ever! He never fixes anything without my ok, he lets me order my own parts so I can pay wholesale for them, and he does lots of little free things for me, or else just says, "oh, I didn't write up a bill, it's like, ten bucks." I pray he lives a long, long time. On the other hand, I took my Bus to Jiffy Lube when I first bought it for its first oil change; the morons there did not even know where the engine was located, which should have tipped me off right there. They drained all the oil out incorrectly, then overfilled it; almost destroyed my engine. This is the reason I learned to change my own oil; it takes less time, saves me ten bucks, and I have no one to blame but myself if it gets screwed up!
