Have a Lexmark printer?

  1. Anyone have a Lexmark printer? Maybe you can help me! Today, when I turned my printer on, both lights come on (the power light and the one next to it) and blink. The ink cartridge moves, the rollers that move the paper roll but it won't print!!

If I leave it on for a few minutes it sounds like the cartridge carrier is trying to move or is hitting something. There isn't anything in there though.

    Any ideas?

    Oh yeah, it's a Z12 printer. lol

Does it have a sheet of paper jammed up in it? Or is it out of paper? Start with the basics

Funny, I have the same printer and all of a sudden I can't get my color to print...
Wish I could help. Try their website, they have some troubleshooting pages.

Tried the website....nothing. Checked for paper jam, heck I even took the front cover completely off.....nothing. I saw that Office Max has a Lexmark Z23 (I think) for $19 after the in-store rebate. May stop by there while school shopping tomorrow.

    Thanks for the suggestions though.

Did uninstall it from your computer and reinstall it? Other than that I don't have advice just have to say I feel your pain. I have the Lexmark X63 and I must say that it is a piece of crap. It's a 4-in-1 and it's cheap but goodness, you get what you pay for.

Sharon I have the same printer, and it works great for me...ummm with a few minor problems at times. The best one I had was a brother multi use one. But I had the same problem with it, that BelindaLPN is having with her Lexmark. Never could figure out what the problem was, but I think I might get it fixed though as it was great to use.

My BIL had the same thing. I tried the uninstall and it would just sit there and think about it.

I finally renamed the printer, deleted it and let the PNP find it gain. I really don't like XPs means of handling hardware. I'm still in '98 and so far it's been great...no worm (so far.)

I have a Canon 555 multipass that prints, faxes, copies and scans. The only c/o I have is the tiny ink refills. I think it was 89.00 about 2 years ago.
    ------edited to add:

This is exactly what happened. I wish I'd seen this first! Print spooling fouled up!

Yes, I did uninstall/reinstall. I had to quit messing with it cause I was to the point of tossing it out in the yard! Gonna do some research and buy a new one.....NOT a Lexmark though.

hmmmmmmm..... my Lexmark Z-22 died several months ago, too, and I hadn't even had it a year. Piece of crapola. First, the color all turned peasoup green, then it just quit printing alltogether!

It HAS color in the inkjet thingie... at least it's SHOWING half-full. It goes through all the printing motions, but the paper comes out blank. Every time. Tried the uninstall thing, too... nothing. Sux, doesn't it?

Have a Lexmark also.. so far so good, but I won't buy another one. The price for ink refill cartridges is about a 1/3 of the price of the printer! BelindaLPN, sorry I can't help since I haven't had that problem. (yet)

Had a Lexmark X63 all-in-one. It didn't work too badly until I got Windows XP. Despite what Lexmark claimed, the new drivers for XP did NOT work. The machine would freeze on me, and claim it was 'busy', most often when I had about 5 minutes to get out the door to work, and just HAD to get that new referral printed up for the new admit I was doing that day. I got around the problem by having my old BJC inkjet printer hooked to the computer too (the Lexmark worked off a USB cable, and the printer off a standard printer cable, so this system worked really well).

I finally got Future Shop to honour the extended warranty on the machine, and give me a credit of $200 (about half what I originally paid for it ) I waited a bit until I was able to get a machine I thought I could trust. Finally purchased an HP psc 2110. It's the first time I've had a printer or all-in-one machine install without needing a call to Software Support! So far its operation has been problem-free, except for a minor annoyance...the scanner insists on resizing 8.5x11 pages to fit what IT thinks should be the margains, which is usually small enough to cut off some of the info on the sheets (most often my service log for the day.) Have combed through the instructions many times without finding a 'fix' for this. Resizing the page to 8.5x11 is an annoyance, but quite easy to do.

Oh yea, the cartridges ARE quite expensive to replace, and haven't yet figured out how to refill them myself.
