Has Anyone Tried Crest Whitestrips to Whiten Teeth?

  1. My teeth have always been more of a yellowish shade than white so when I got a $7.00 off coupon for Crest Whitestrips and they were also on sale at Kmart, I bought a box. (I think they ended up costing around $26.00.) It's a 2-week system where you apply the "tooth whitening gel containing peroxide" strips for 30 minutes twice/day and your teeth should be noticeably whiter in two weeks. I keep checking mirrors and I'm not sure they've gotten "noticeably whiter"-- just paler yellow, IMO :imbar and I'm nearly at the end of the treatment.

Anyone else ever tried these or had your teeth professionally whitened? I always use a whitening toothpaste (Colgate or Arm & Hammer) but never noticed much difference. Any suggestions for brightening my less than pearly whites that won't cost an arm and a leg?

Yep, I'm trying White Strips right now...it's only been 3 days so I can't really tell much yet...I'll check back

My daughter was in a test group for them. Her teeth got so much whiter that we had to replace a crown so it would match.

Thanks for responding, Lausana and BBnurse! I had the strips on while I typed my message and then checked my teeth out in natural light after I removed them, and I guess they DO look somewhat whiter... I guess all these years of Diet Coke and coffee have taken their toll and I can't expect brilliant white teeth.

Anybody ever tried and can recommend any of the more expensive whitening toothpastes like "Rembrandt"? I don't want to wreck the enamel or anything, and my dental hygenist thought the Crest strips would be okay, but I'm afraid to try anything too harsh.

Good to know. I've been considering this myself. Thanks!

I liked the white strips and thought they made a substantial difference. Never had them professionally done.

The Rembrandt toothpaste I have tried. If they did anything it was so slow as to be imperceptible and hard to justify the expense.

Yes and they did whiten them but I didn't like the fit. The top ones were OK not long enough to reach the back teeth but the bottom ones were way to short and almost choked and gagged on one. I emailed the company to make longer ones but haven't seen the change yet.
