Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

  1. Anybody have advance copies ordered? We are going to visit my father this weekend and he reserved a copy at the local children's bookstore for my daughter for her birthday. We are going to keep it a secret and wake her up a few minutes before midnight and then go down to the bookstore to get it! The surprise midnite trip will make it even more exciting!

I saw on the news that JK Rowling has admitted that a major beloved character is killed off in this book. What are your speculations about who it is?

I'm ready to buy the book as soon as I can! It's not just for the kids, I plan to read it before they do!! I'm a bigger fan than my kids, even though they enjoy the books and the movies too

My husband & I are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our advance-ordered copy! We are fans of the series as well. He has reread them several times & is such a trivia buff...he's always stumping me with my lack of trivial Harry Potter knowledge. Oh well, I'll let him have his fun for now.

I'm really excited, but will not stand in line to get a copy. I learned the last time, that there will always be copies around to buy, once the hype is over. Can't wait to read it though!

One request. When any of you do get a copy, warn us that you'll be showing spoilers if you're gonna discuss the story (a la Two Towers). Thanks.

aimee, I must confess I use to think, "What horrible parents for making their kids stay up late just to buy a book." when Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone first came out. Now I know why after reading the book. Sounds like an awesome surprise for her birthday!

I keep meaning to buy these books, as I know they will be great classics someday. Maybe one day I will get them as a gift to myself.

oh no!!!!!!!!!!!! thought I could escape HP here but seems not!! Daniel Radcliffe is a friend of my friends daughter! he is such a thug!! he reprogrammed Robbie Coltraines mobile phone so that it played the funeral march as a ring tone and changed the language to Turkish! I gather Robbie was not amused!

On "The Panel" the other night they were discussing Harry Potter and the theft in England of a container load of books. One of the panelists pointed out that since "Harry" is another name for heroin that there would be an awful lot of disappointed drug addicts. ( A book? You sold me a book?)

Leaving home in one hour so my son the bookworm slob can get his copy hot off the press---was upset that we didn't go to Borders straight from Archery practice tonight. If line is too long , I'll just go upstairs to my office and get some work done, benefit of working next door to them.
