Happy Wednesday October 24th 2007!

  1. Still another hour until that here, but I'm up...

    Prayers for tn and jnette.

In light of that I'm almost embarrassed to mention that difficult Assessment test I had tonight. I was afraid I did badly on it, but with the extra credit I should have an A-, so I'm relieved.

Have to get up early tomorrow morning...have to give flu shots at a clinic in the city. The first time I'll be injecting actual people, not dummies or injection pads. Hope it goes well...especially since the department head will be overseeing the students.

Anyway, good morning to everyone! Now I'm off to bed!

Good night Joe. Good morning to others.

Joe, I'm sure you'll get lots of practice with injections. I think it would be a great way to gain experience and self confidence in your skills. You've made it this far so you're no dummie! You practiced and passed this skill. NS instructors didn't pass you because you're cute (which I don't know that, but you know what i mean). Good luck! And congrats on your A!

    Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday Joe, Beth and all to come!

Joe-You'll be fine with injections after the first few. Congrats on the grade!

Beth-Hope you're able to get some sleep between packing. You don't want to spread yourself too thin and have a major flare-up of your gut troubles.

I'm off to bed before ds decides he's hungry. We were on the road and didn't start the bedtime routine on time. Baby didn't go to bed until 23:00. Hope he sleeps for awhile. Mama's tired too. We're heading to the other side of town to watch 3 and 4 and a half year old nieces after pre-school while bf takes the 5 and a half year old niece to the Neurologist. They'll see if her Keppra is doing it's job.

    BTW: back to MercyTeaPot!

I know, I know. You sound like my mom. As she left today she gave me one of 'those' looks. You know the looks only mom's can give. Why is that? I can't give that look. It's that look of a combo of watch yourself, be careful, and don't screw this up. Must be as soon as the kid comes out you're instantly blessed to give that look. Mothers worldwide give that look.

I feel so sorry for the movers tomorrow: 3rd floor walkup, no service elevator and I have some very heavy boxes. But it's what they do. Oooh, wouldn't it be nice if one of them was hot (or both could be hot)? Make a dreary day sunnier.

I took my nightly combo of benadryl and tylenol (don't harrass me about that - it gets me to sleep 50% of the time) so hopefully I'll be asleep soon. I have my nightly football game cued up on itunes - i watch it on my laptop. It's the Tositos Fiesta bowl game from last year - Boise State and Oklahoma. Remember when the Boise state player proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend after the winning TD? Well, this is the one and it's soo sweet. They're married now. I saw on tv where Boise State and Ian Johnson and his future wife had to hire bodyguards because they were receiving death threats. Apparently he's black which I did not know until I heard it on tv. I just didn't notice his skin color. That's sad that people have to rain on someone's parade like that, but they're happy now.

Had another wonderful day at work yesterday (or for me today LOLOL). Got up this morning and fed my pups and got all ready for work. My commute is about 30 miles both ways so it makes my day long but I love my new house and I wouldn't trade jobs or move for anything.

I had segregation today and there were over 20 for sick call and only one of them were really sick that I was worried about. The read was just garbage...they have too much time in segregation thinking about something that we can take care of for them....I worked hard and got all my work done and then helped the other nurses get their work done. We have an agency nurse working with us and she is totally out of her element here. She may be a great ICU nurse but this isn't the place for her to be. Hopfully they get her out of there before she kills someone. I told the bosses that I am very uncomfortable working with her and hopefully they will get another agency nurse for us. Correctional nursing is not for everyone.

Came home and played with my little guys and and gave them dinner and just trying to relax before I got to bed. Will try to get back on here tomorrow night and see how everyones day went.

Good morning to all. I don't think 8 solid hours on a computer is good for me. Not with a seizure hx. I called the big boss at home at 8p to tell her it might not be a good idea and she agreed, saying that she hadn't thought about that. She has been great with me, thank God. They were trying to train me for after hours office nurse. Besides, I'm not too fond of working 4p to 12a. But that's beside the point. So I guess tomorrow I'll find out more about where they'll send me. I'll call the doctor just to confirm it as a possible problem.
I'm finally getting sleepy. Hope everyone has a good night or whatever your time is for you. Have a God blessed night and day.

Sonya, that would be a bit scary to have a nurse in corrections who had no idea the protocols of it. Heck, I don't even know if there are protocols (i'm betting there are).

This reminds me of a pt we had over the weekend: he was in prison and except for this time there is always an officer in the room at all times. This time, no one. Family came and went, pt came to nurse's station to place long distance calls, ordered food out. THEN, when he was d/c'd do you think he went back to prison??

Nope, he went home with his brother. I'm baffled that a man who was convicted and sentenced is at home with his brother and not behind bars. Alright, he wasn't a violent offender but still. He threatened to jump out the first floor window and flee so I don't know why they sent him home unmonitored. No bracelet or anything.

I couldn't do anything: I'm 'just' the aide.

Hello - off to bed here shortly. Got home a bit ago from my Stats class - which lasted 30 minutes. The prof is in a play and had practice. Nice guy - very funny. But I thought - I just drove 70 miles for 1/2 hour?

My daughter watched the 6 year old. He was still up watching cartoons . . . . .. :uhoh21: I tossed him in the tub, read him 2 stories and he fell fast asleep.

See you all on Wednesday . . .(27 more minutes).

steph, is your class always going to be 30 mins? That's pretty unusual. Could you take it online?

Although, my experience with anything with numbers online is horrible. I can do other classes online, but nothing with math.
